Ferenc Fülep – György Duma: Examinations of the Wall Paintings in the Cella Trichora of Pécs

202 F. FÜLEP - Gy. DUMA samples certain differences also exist primarily in the quantity, and presumably also in the quality of seed materials, chaff and stem parts. The shape of the DTA graphs strongly supports this supposition. Therefore it had become necessary to make a thorough test of organic medium also in the samples. We have made organic tests on almost all the samples by which we intended to define the characteristic components of cereals. The summary of the results of the organic chemical analyses is given in Table V. Similarities and differences observed already upon the inorganic analyses of the layers of plaster that covers the walls in the cella trichora and of the other painted fragments could again be seen when the organic components were defined. Average values of lignine, cellulose and xylane content are summarized in Table VI. With a view to a better understanding of the plaster materials from the point
