IffiPINWIilN—zJIE NEÍ2 KOPQN The Emperor laur., wearing cuirass and flaring paludamentum, on horse galloping г., stabbing a spear with r. hand towards the enemy in front of the horse. ПЕР1 —NWIWN — В —NEJMCOPHN Ш —N^sN In the foreground of the illustration Dionysos lights upon the sleeping Ariadne. Dionysos stands in front, thyrsos in his r. hand. Before him Ariadne lying on the ground in front view, the upper part of her body is resting on a cliff, holding her head with both hands, her legs crossed, her clothes leave her upper part bare, covering only her legs. In the background of the illusstration two figures on either side of Dyonysos as his constant companions, namely one Satyr and three Sileni. 8 5 The same piece is described in BMC no. 54, and Mushmow, 4619. 6 Probably the same piece is described, but not quite precisely by Mionnet I. p. 412. no. 324. — A medallion with Ariadne on the reverse is described by H.
