L. Barkóczi - A. Kerényi: Bronze medaillons of Thracian issue from Brigetio

BRONZE MEDALLIONS OF THRACIAN ISSUE FROM BRIGETIO In the collection of the Hungarian National Museum and in the possession of some private collectors there are several so-called colonial bronze medallions of the Roman period which were found at Brigetio or in its immediate neighbourhood. They are of a special interest because, if their site can be ascertained at all, they come all from Brigetio, one of the important legionary camps of Upper Pannónia. Those coins the site of which is not given, derive presumably also from Brigetio. Another feature of interest is that all these issues come from the area of Thracia, all can be dated from the time of the Severi and their proveniences are chiefly Perinthus and Philippopolis, in one or two instances Byzantion. No such medallions are known from other Pannonian sites. The pieces at our disposal are the following: 1. Perinthus, Caracalla. Site Brigetio. Private collection of Gy. Lenhardt (Dunaalmás). Pl.
