SO аж. KÖREK: THE CEMETERY OF THE COPPER AGE AND THE NEOLITHIC SETTLEMENT már régeri kialudt az élet, amikor a temetőbe az első sírt felhantolták. S ha még ez nem volna •elég, még jobb bizonyítékot szolgáltatna a harmadik gödör, amelynek igen szegényes anyagából egy edény fogó <XVI. t.6.) töredéke érdemel említést. Az edényfogót úgy készítették, hogy a belső oldalra is helyeztek egy bütyköt, &issé alacsonyabban, mint a külső oldalon. Hasz^álási módja azonos a kisrétparti példányokká!.

8 Ennek a formának aeneolitikus eredete «ein kétséges. Л bátkai temető kronológiai sorrendben a rézkor elejére tehető. Ellentmondani látszik eni&ek az a tény, hogy a jászladányi temetőben, Amelyben — mint láttuk a bordadíszes edeny is .megvan — az ellentett élü rézcsákány is jelentkezűt, ami kétségtelenül a fejlettebb eszközök közé tartozik. Az a tény azonban, hogy a borda díszítés már az aeneolitikumban is megvan, erősen csökkenti ennek datáló értékét. A telep anyagában megtaláljuk az aene*litikum tipikus edényformáit. Sajnos a telephez tartozó sírok nem kerültek elő. Ezekben bizonyára jelentkezett volna a Bodrogkeresztúri kulturába átvezető kerámia is. A sírokból kikerült edényeknél így is találunk aeneolitikus hatásokat. Ilyenek a függőleges bütykök (XV. t, l.),asok apró és szétszórt bütyökdísz (XVI. t» 8., 18.). A temető már ismeri a rezet és a rézkor vezető edényformái is megvannak. Bár az anyag nem nagy, megállapítható, hogy Bátkán az aeneolitikum folyamán megindult az élet és töretlenül tart a rézkor végéig. Ez már csak azért sem lehet meglepő, mert a Tisza másik partján lévő Csókán ugyanezt állapíthatjuk meg. Szeged. In the course <of a dam building in 1873 many skeletons furnished with pottery already came to light. <iy. Dudás, who was dealing with the question

1 ш the origin and culture of the hillocks around •Zenta, made an experimental excavation on this Mock* in 1882 and found eight or ten skeletons in extended position, furnished with vessels made on wheel. The finds, brought to light at that time, derived from the Sarmation period, a« it was also authenticated by the fragments of finds of the Sarmation period, Which were found during the excavation in 1944. '.p. 364. and during this work several graves of the Copper Age were disturbed, many vessels from here got into the small collections of the local' grammar-school and town hall. In 1944 for the strengthening of the dam earth was carried away again from Bátka and then other skeletons came to light. P. Majoros town engineer rescued the finds and asked the Archaeological Institute of the University at Szeged to authenticate them. The excavation was carried out by the author of this article from 9

h May 1944. In the course of the excavation seven very poorly furnished skeletons of the Gopper Age and eighteen from the 15

h centuries were unearthed. The cemetery has not yet been entirely explored because of agricultural works we had ta postpone the entire exploration to a later time. The finds from the cemetery and from the settlement are preserved in the county museum at Zombor, while the anthropological material of the cemetery was sent to the Anthropological Institute of the University at Szeged.
