The definition of premature extraction of deciduous molars and its possible effects are discussed. The endodontic treatment-methods of primary molars and the possibilities of their maintainance are also briefly summarized. The Hotz’ serial extraction system serves as managing anterior crowding and can not be considered as harmful premature extraction. The authors also review the diagnostic methods of premature extraction of primary molars and the different types of space-maintainers.
