After polishing by means of a rubber beffl at 3000 rpm during one minute the surfaces of both examined amalgam fillings show parallel furrows and irregular depressions. The surface of the „Homodent—1” amalgam fillings shows in addition a great number of micropores by which the filling gets a spongy appearance. Qn the surface of the „Goodfill” amalgam filling but few micropores can be observed.
