10 The reading room and newspaper room may be used by any resident of Budapest, older than 18, if he identifies himself with his police certificate of identity. Any full age ratepayer may borrow books for home reading if he identifies himself with his police certificate of identity and shows a house-rent receipt, or any 18 years old resident, if he brings a guarantee signed by a resident of Budapest. While the siege was still continuing in the Danube-zone, 8 members of the library staff already arrived voluntarily to assist in clearing away the rums on January 18th 1945. By the end of January, 50, in March, 63 employees were engaged in reconstruction in Pest, 40 in Buda. Of the branch, libraries, No. 10/53, Andrássy-út) opened on February 19th 1945 f0r the public. By the middle of May 1945, 7 branches were open in Pest, 1 in Buda. The reading rooms of the Central Library opened on November 9*h 1945.
