Az ostrom gondos naplója 1686. jún. 10-től, amikor a császári sereg megindul az esztergomi táborból Buda felé, szept. 4-ig »Den 4-dito, hat man allererst, weilen gestern die Stadt, welche nun einem Steinhauffen gleich sihet, noch voller glüender Kohlen, anfangen die Todten zu begraben, meist aber in die Donau zu werffen, welches die Juden und gefangene Türcken tun müssen, auch müssen sie jetzo die Stadt säubern, den Graben ausraumen, und die Approchen wider einfüllen, und seynd bereits etliche vergrabene Schätze gefunden worden.« Legvégén szó van még gr. Königs-Egg főhadsegéd küldetéséről Bécsbe, aki a diadal hírével együtt a török főzászlót is magával vitte.
