Seventy-one percent say their parents set some rules about their TV watching. But the prospect of parents overseeing what their children are watching is undercut by another statistic: Over half of America’s children, 58%, have their own TV sets in their bedrooms. Nationally, Americans in general spend a staggering 250 billion hours annually glued to the set. If that same time were spent on a $5 per hour job, the U.S. wage would jump by one-and-a-quarter trillion dollars. The family is the big loser to the tube. Fifty-four percent of four-to six-year-olds say they would rather watch TV than be with their father. More than three of every four daycare centers use a TV as part of the daily routine and when it comes to quality time each week, parents get a minuscule 3.5 minutes while the television gets 28 hours. (Christians & Society Today, July, 96) Televizió-zsoltár A TV az én pásztorom, nincs igényem másra! Kényelmes fotelekben helyet készít nékem, A hittől egyre távolabb vezet engem. Lelkemet lerombolja, az érzékiség és az erőszak ösvényein vezet, szerkesztői nevében. Járjak bár a keresztény felelősség köntösében, nem zavar meg semmi, hiszen a TV velem van, kábelei és távkapcsolója megvigasztalnak engem. Ellát minden jóval világiasságom törekvései szerint, megkeni fejemet humanizmussal és a törtetéssel az anyagiak felé, kívánságaimat színültig betölti. Garantált lustaság és nemtörődömség fog követni engem életem minden napján, és a TV-nézők házában lakom időtlen-időkön át.
