Stumpf Memorial Church was dedicated to the service of the Lord in Bedkua, India on October 3,1992. The completion of this church was no small task. Dr. Ezra Sarguman, Director of Evangelical Churches in India, said that he had “never spent so much time and money, and gone through so much mental agony with any other building pro­ject” during his entire ministry in India. Satan really fought all the way in trying to stop the building of this church. God on IRENE VARJÚ NINTZEL Another dear servant of God has gone to her eternal home. Irene Varjú Nintzel, a be­loved old time member of the High Street Bap­tist Church in New Brunswick, N.J. served the Lord in that Hungarian church for many years. We remember her as a devoted Christian lady who with her family were active in the services of her Lord and Master. She was not only ac­tive in church circles, but she also took part in civic and cultural organizations. She is survived by a daughter Margaret Koye Avalos, a brother Joseph Varjú of Florida, and two sisters, Mar­garet Ur and Lillian Pinter. She is now resting from her labors in the arms of her Lord and Master. Although she is gone from our sight, we look forward to the time when we shall meet again, when there will be no more part­ing. “Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God”. (Ps 146:5) She is truly happy. EJK PALM BAY Bethesda Baptist Church Lelkipásztor: Rev. A. Barton Brown Gyönyörű napsütéses vasárnap délelőtt volt. Gyülekezetünkben áhítatos csendben várták a jelenlevők a BÚCSÚ ÜNNEP megkezdését. Egy kedves 79 éves testvért búcsúztattuk. Hazament. Ne gondolja senki, hogy egy siralmas történet következik. Ellenkezőleg. Nagyon is kedves, bátorító, buzdító bizonyságtételt mondok el. Egy áldott élet csodás hatásá­ról lesz szó. Miért szólok erről? Mert tu­dom, hogy hatására új erő, elhatározás, és buzgóság fakadhat életünkben. Esetleg ön­vizsgálat is. Előbb azonban hadd mondjam el, hogy egy olyan emberről lesz szó, aki egy élményekben és sikerekben gazdag élet után, idős korban, betegesen, majdnem teljesen megvakulva és tolószékkel közle-the other hand must have had something very special in store for this church since there were more than 800 people at the de­dication and already the church has over 300 members. Arthur G. Stumpf was a member of our Silliman Memorial Baptist Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Initially this was a Hungarian Baptist Church. Arthur was extremely active in serving the Lord there. A few years ago, he befriended two Indian medical interns, one of whom accepted Christ as his personal savior and is now serving the Lord with his family in a Bap­tist Church in the city of Chicago. Through this association, Arthur became involved with the Indian people in a very special way. Through the New Directions Evan­gelical Association it was decided that a new church was needed in Bedkua, India. Arthur was one of the prime movers in this effort. Upon his death in April 1991, it was decided that a memorial fund be es­tablished for the construction of this church. Monies raised in Arthurs honor was used in its construction. Arthur is no longer with us, he is with his heavenly father whom he had served faithfully for so many years. What a joy it must have been for Arthur to look down from his heavenly vantage point to see the people flocking to this new church. What a joy it must be for his family to know that be­cause of Art there is a place of worship in a land that is almost completely devoid of Christ which will bring others to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior. May this example urge others to do likewise. kedve került közénk. Búcsúztató prédiká­torunk szavait idézem: „Kedves Testvéreim: ünnepeljük meg Ralph C. Gepford életének emlékét! Ő- hozzá intézem szavaimat. Helyettetek is szólok. Ralph: Isten ajándéka voltál számunk­ra. Egy mozgalmas élet után jöttél gyüle­kezetünkbe és a hozzácsatolt Bethesda nyugalmazottak otthonába. Szerettél élni. Örömmel néztél minden nap elé még ak­kor is, amikor viharok csapkodtak. Min­dig találtál új célt és okot a továbbélésre. Sohasem panaszkodtál. Békés és megelé­gedett voltál. Szerettél minket is. Családtagként fo­gadtál be. Kiváló társalgó voltál, főleg azért, mert érdekeltek az emberek. Érde­kelt, hogy honnan jöttek, merre jártak és mit vártak a holnaptól. Mi is megszeret­tünk, mert törődtél velünk. Mindannyi­unkban megláttad a jót. Sohasem kritizál­tál minket. Helyébe biztató, bátorító sza­vakkal fordultál felénk. Bizonyára ez volt a te missziós hivatásod. Szerény is voltál. Nem volt szükséged arra, hogy múltaddal és sikereiddel dicse­kedve elismerést nyerj. Pedig lett volna okod rá. De sajnálatunkat sem igényelted. Az új körülményekbe könnyen beleil­leszkedtél. Érdekfeszítő kalandnak tekin­tetted azokat. Nem sirattad a múltat s nem panaszkodtál új helyzeteid korlátolt­ságai miatt. Az élet változásaival bátran néztél szembe. Ha mi olykor kevés okot találtunk a hálára és életkedvre, csodál­koztál rajta. Megrögzött optimista voltál, — min­den nehézségből láttál kivezető utat. Ha rosszabbodott a helyzeted, — ami betegsé­geid és többszöri kórházi kezelésed miatt az utóbbi időben gyakran előfordult —, akkor a mi kedves Bethesda otthonunkba való visszatérés és jóbarátaid viszontlátá­sának reményével tápláltad magad. Szeretnénk elmondani neked, hogy tá­vozásod egy csöpp üres helyet hagyott szí­vünkben. örülünk, hogy köztünk jártál. Hatásodra egy picit jobbak lettünk. Meg­emlékezünk bátorságodról és optimizmu­sodról. Köszönjük törődésedet és buzdítá­sodat. Példaadásodat is, mellyel megmu­tattad, hogy miként hordozhatjuk el a ne­hézségeket. Hálát adunk az Úrnak mind­azon áldásért, amit tőled nyertünk.” Kedves Testvéreim! — fordult felénk ez­után a prédikátorunk — milyen jó, hogy az élet nehéz útján akadnak POZITÍV emberek, akik elviselhetőbbé és szebbé te­szik utunkat.
