Every concerned Baptist felt the pain over this unnecessary, even hostile division. But this is history now and we cannot change that. Thank the Lord, there is a movement toward reconciliation. Let us hope and pray that peace and unity will be achieved. It is realized that the structure of our Hungarian Baptist churches went through a great change. Most of the members of the Hungarian Baptist churches came to this country since 1980, and they do not know why the split happened. This means that they do not have any injured feeling, and they are ready to work in peace with all Hungarian Baptist brethren. The Lord Jesus in His Sermon on the Mount said: “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” (Matt. 5:9). If the peacemakers are blessed, and are the children of God, who and what are the split-makers? The one who is not blessed is he cursed, and the one who is not a child of God — whose child is he? The words of our Lord cut deep into our hearts and extoll not only the joy of being blessed, but warn us about grieviousness of the lack of blessedness. We should be peacemakers if not for love of peace, at least for the fear of what the lack of blessing means, and of the possibility of not being children of God. Through the ages, through the history of mankind, wars were fought by men. It may be God’s plan that peacemaking is reserved for women. If it is so, we women have a glorious task to perform. Peace originated in the hearts can radiate to both the unconcerned and hostile hearts. The peacemaking women should endeavor to help to hasten to reach the blessed peace in our Hungarian Baptist Zion. Peace should reign in the heart; it should rule in the family; it should be permanent The Rev. Robert W. Marshall was installed as pastor of Silliman Memorial Baptist Church, 1728 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, on Sunday February 26. Dr. Robert H. Roberts, Executive Minister of the American Baptist Churches of Con-Rev. Robert W. Marshall necticut, Inc. spoke and officiated in the installation ceremony which took part during the 11 a.m. morning worship service. Rev. Marshall, who began his pastoral responsibilities at Silliman Church on January 15, had been the pastor of the Fairview-Immanuel Baptist Church in Youngstown, Ohio, since 1983. An ordained minister with the American Baptist Convention, he has previously served with the Haven of Rest Ministries in Akron, Ohio, and is a former associate pastor at Bethel Bible Fellowship in Allentown, Pa. He is a Bible college and seminary graduate, with degrees from Columbia (S.C.) Bible College and Reformed Episcopal of Philadelphia. He is the son of a Baptist minister and one of four brothers involved in full-time in the church, and it should be restored in our Hungarian Baptist Union. Christian women should be constantly aware of their possibilities, anxious to gain the blessing and strive earnestly to become the children of God. There is a great prospect for us! Men can make war — and peace too. Women are not soldiers, their lot is peacemaking, and their reward is great. Ruby Udvarnoki Christian ministry. His brother, the Rev. James Marshall, is director of music at Black Rock Congregational Church in Fairfield. During his pastorate in Ohio, Rev. Marshall has done volunteer work at the Youngstown Rescue Ministries and has served on the Board of Neighborhood Ministries, an American Baptist National Ministries mission to people living in lowincome projects of Youngstown and Campbell, Ohio. He and his wife, Carol, of 22 years have two children — a daughter Debbie, 20, living in California, and a son Dan, 17, who is a senior in high school. The family will reside in Bridgeport. Silliman Memorial Baptist Church, founded in 1910, is associated with the American Baptist and Hungarian Baptist Conventions, and supports a number of local and regional ministries and foreign missionary efforts. HÍREK Bécs: Szakadás történt az osztrák fővárosban lévő Mollardgasse-i baptista gyülekezetben, mivel a tagság 50%-a a Bibliát olyan könyvnek tartja, ami az Isten Igéjét is tartalmazza. Gerhard Stach német prédikátor emiatt azzal a csoporttal távozott a helyi imaházból, amelyik a Bibliát teljesen az Isten Igéjének tekinti. A kis csoport most a Reschgasse 24-26 szám alatti helységben tart istentiszteleteket.
