1988. október 15. ^aitónijíl^ U-J ».11 i'.Tri ummí 7. oldal August at Bethesda August brought a flurry of visitors and prospective residents to tour the Bethesda facilities and take home the packet of information concerning our services and accommodations. We presently have waiting lists for both apartments and single rooms. August also brought much interest in the presidential election. Mr. Jim Greer, who gave a most informative talk on the proposed establishment of a Flo­rida Department of Elderly Affairs, held a question and answer period and about 1 / 3 of our people were in attendance. The activity “Newspaper and Coffee” helps keep our dwellers informed and we are happy they en­joy reading since we have the facility of a lovely library well equipped with books, magazines and colorful pamph­lets. Mrs. Claire Manley has been work­ing side by side with Jean Robinson for about 10 days in the capacity of Social Worker. With her prior work experience in all aspects of supportive nursing care she is well equipped to take care of the needs of our residents. She is a fast learner and has attended the first session required by the De­partment of Health Rehabilitative Services concerning the rules and re­gulations on medication distribution and record keeping. She is the mother of eight grown children with a delight­ful sense of humor. Please pray for her along with the rest of our staff as we reciprocate and remember you, our reading audience. The Newman Eye Institute repre­sentative spoke to our people about the updated eye surgical procedures covering cataracts and implants. A Question and Answer period followed and it was interesting to hear several residents relay their own surgical nar­ratives. Also, Douglas De Mar, our “house calling podiatrist”, cares for about a dozen or more residents during his monthly visits. These two activities encompass the on-going “Wellness Program” instituted over a year ago. Our desire is to assist our residents in all areas of their lives as the needs arise. If you would stop and count how many folks give of their time, talent, counsel and financial assitance, the number would probably be a hundred or two. That’s a far cry from the total number in our reading audience but we do want to personally acknow­ledge and thank the faithful ones who support the work of Bethesda. If you or a loved one have looked into retire­ment homes in your own local, the establishments come in different sizes and rental costs. We strive to give most comfortable accommodations, delicious food, concerned employees tied together with a warm, loving atmosphere in the Hungarian Baptist tradition. We appreciate so much your let­ters, prayers and support which make up the cord that binds us together in His service. God bless you all abundantly. We love you and hope to see more of you during the sunny, Florida winter. Mózes 19:26-31 és 20:6 Volt egy nagybátyám, aki annyira babonás volt, hogy a világért nem ment volna vissza a lépcsőházból la­kásába, ha valamit otthon felejtett, mert szerinte az „rossz szerencsét ho­zott”. Helyette, engem küldött vissza; ha közelében voltam. Én meg szívesen visszamentem, mert az én szüleim ar­ra tanítottak engem, hogy a babona­­ság nevetséges. Meg volt egy hentesnéni az utca­sarkunkon, aki a második világhábo­rúban spiritiszta tanokba keveredett. Ennek következtében hangosan hir­dette vevőinek a „szellem testvér” jós­latát a rendszerint telt üzletében. (Többek között azt jósolta, hogy Hit­ler győzni fog.) Aztán néhány hóna­pon belül tébolyodottan rohant kis városunk utcáin és öngyilkos lett. Akkor vettük csak észre, hogy mit tettek vele a szellemek. Hallottam két özvegyről, akik fér­jük elvesztése után a lélekvándorlás veszélyes tévtanításának csapdájába kerültek. Az egyik azt érezte, hogy a férje szellem alakjában jelentkezik la­kásában és kuruzslással próbálta el­zavarni. A másik meg azt hitte, hogy az ablakpárkányára repkedő madár­ka képében látogatja elhunyt élettár­sa. Ez meg etetgette a „vendéget”. Ezek a példák arra utalnak, hogy a babona vagy okkultizmus azért veszé­lyes, mert az ördög igézetébe keveri követőit. Miért foglalkozunk ezzel a témával ily kimerítően? Több célból: Először azért, hogy minden szülő megértse, hogy a szellemekkel játszani nem lehet! Aki babonába keveredik, vagy azt még viccből ill. játékból is megtűri, az az ördög igézetének teszi ki magát és utódait. S ezért elhatároz­za, hogy családjában a legcsekélyebb formában sem tűri meg, vagy gyako­rolja. (Legyen az kuruzslás, varázslás, asztrológia, mágia, szellemidézés, le­­kopogás vagy bármily okkult gyakor­lat.) Ugyanakkor gyermekeit is felvi­lágosítja veszélye felől.
