The days are passing by so fast and before we know it, convention time will be here. This year the convention will be held July 17th—20th in Alhambra, California. Women’s Day is set for Friday, the 18th. It is not too early to make plans and reservations to attend. Airlines are very busy during the summer months and seats are very limited. It would be wise to make your travel reservations now. 1 would like to urge all women to make plans to attend. We will have a good program with very inspirational speaker. I am sure that you will receive a special blessing. You will also have an opportunity to meet our Christian sisters and brothers in the Los Angeles area. It will be a wonderful time of Christian fellowship. Dont miss it! At our last meeting the Women’s Convention accepted a budget of $1080.00. The budget is designated for both Foreign and Home Missions. We accepted this budget on faith and we pray that the money will come in to our treasury. Hallgatásukkal a kommunista román kormány intézkedéseit helyeselnék. A “The Voice of Truth” 1986. A tilalom végrehajtásáról a kézben tartott felekezeti vezetők gondoskodnak. One little niece of mine always asked permission to watch me unpack my baggage. It was an occasion in turn for her as it had been for me. She would jump up with pleasure as I piled discarded articles in her lap. What brought her more pleasure than anything else were the old purses I no longer wanted or used. If there was a handle, she loved to hang it over her arm and pretend a visit to town or to a friend. The old purses brought pleasure to Beppy, but they were absolutely useless to me. All of us recall scores of such purses we are glad to rid from our baggage. In Jesus’ day purses were used; for we read in Luke’s gospel (12:33) the words of Jesus: “Provide yourselves with purses that will never wear out, wealth inexhaustible in heaven where no thief can come nor moth consume. ” (Weymouth’s translation.) How often I have wondered why purses last no longer than they do. No matter of what expensive material they are made, I have never seen one yet that did not wear out some time or other. Jesus gives us the secret. He says it is possible to manufacture purses that do not wear out — do not even get frazzled on the edges! How is it done? There is not a one of us who doesn’t wish to be told that secret. The foundation material for such a permanent purse is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. “Except ye have faith it is impossible to please God.” Accept Him as your personal Savior. The material as shown by your conduct will prove to the world that you have chosen a purse that will never wear out. Another important part ofa purse is the lining. This lining may be called the love of our fellowmen. An observer never sees the lining of one 's purse. It is only the owner who has that privilege. We do not have to remind our fellowmen in words of our love for them. They will know by our actions that we carry out the second great command of our Master when He said, “Love thy neighbor as thyself. ” If we carry out these chief commands of our Lord, we shall have the secret of permanent purses — “inexhaustible riches in Heaven. ” Ruby Udvarnoki
