6. bldal 1985. március 1. December at Bethesda December at Bethesda was another month of joy in celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savoir, Jesus Christ. Like children throughout the entire world we too became involved in the hustle and bustle of pre Christmas preparation. The anticipation of joys to follow started right after Thanksgiving day and swelled to a conclusion after New Year’s day. Throughout the entire month we were fortunate in hearing from so many of our friends. Your gifts and good wishes during this season of the year are always gratefully received. It is because of people such as you all are that we are able to accomplish the things that we do at Bethesda. We thank God for each and every one of you. Our program of activiries for the month was filled with programs of music and entertainment in celebration of the birth of Christ. WE had junior choirs, senior choirs, girl scouts, boy scouts, the junior chamber of commerce and many other organizations came to entertain our residents. In most instances, the entertainment included the giving of gifts, cookies, ice cream and other goodies to our “little children”. What a joy it was to see the sparkle in the eyes of both the entertainers as well as the entertained. We thank God for providing us with so many truly faithful friends. Bethesda is indeed fortunate to be able to claim these people as our friends. In addition to the many fine pastries that we received during the month, our own kitchen also outdid themselves by providing extra special meals for our folk. The meals that were provided were something extra. We can say they were fit for a king. In addition to good food, we provided to each resident gifts of usable things. For those residents who do not have family, we provided new clothing, etc. so that they too would receive gifts and therefore not be ommitted from the joy of receiving. It was in this area that your gifts were used to provide the extras for our loved ones. Our Christmas celebration culminated with vesper services on Christmas eve. For so many years, we have held these services at which family members our church friends and our residents join together for a time of family fellowship. Needless to say, this once again was a joyous occassion. We sang the old familiar Christmas carols, our church choir participated and our own pastor, Dr. Ladislau Biro, provided the period of meditation. Of course the ladies of our church provided us with some very fine pastry which was enjoyed by all. “Santa Claus” also made his visit and with a robust Ho Ho Ho and a waved of his arm he departed to bring joy to other “little children”. Our construction project is moving along quite nicely. It is our hope that the building will be complete and ready for occupancy by January 29, 1985. We already have ten of the apartments rented and we have only four left to rent. If anyone is interested in renting one of these units, please write to me, or call, as soon as possible, since I am confident that they will all be rented in the very near future. The apartments are really beautiful and we are grateful to God for making this addition possible for us. I know that our forefathers would be extremely proud of what we now have in existence at our Home. Their prayers and their tears made it possible for us to enjoy that which we now enjoy. Contributions for our building fund are still trickling in. To date we have received in cash almost $ 37,000. I am confident however that we will increase this amount appreciably before the end of the year. These monies came from members of our Hungarian Baptist Union and from residents and friends of our Home. The smallest amount given was $5.00 and the largest amount was $2000.00. We are naturally grateful to all people who helped us make this project possible. You have saved us $112,475.00 in amortized payment during the next twenty years. We are grateful to God for all of you and we trust that the giver of all gifts will bless you all in a very special way. It would give me great joy to be able to host all of you for a visit to Bethesda whenever you are in the area. You would be as proud of what God, through his people, has made possible, as I am. Please continue to pray for us. We, on our own, are helpless. But together we can do much. We at Bethesda wish you all a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. We love you. c. . sincerely, Ernest J. Kish Executive Director * Contributions CONTRIBUTIONS TO BUILDING FUNDS: In loving memory of the Rev. Frank Ver: Drs.
