Meg kell említeni azt a különösen örvendetes fejleményt, hogy az Otthon a jó befektetéssel és gazdálkodással odajutott, hogy az Amerikai Magyar Baptista Szövetséget anyagilag hathatósan támogathatja. Kish testvérék írják, hogy az elért eredményeket a munkatársak közreműködése és az Úr segítsége nélkül nem tudták volna elérni, s ezért a munkatársak felé őszinte szívből jövő köszönetüket nyilvánítják, a kegyelmes vezetésért a dicsőséget az Úrnak adják. Az Amerikai Magyar Baptista testvérek hálásak Kish testvérék eredményes szolgálataiért s szeretettel köszöntik a tíz éves évforduló alkalmából. Az Amerikában élő román baptista testvérek 15 évvel ezelőtt egy “Misszió Társaságot” alapítottak a Romániában élő testvéreik lelki és anyagi támogatása céljából. Ez a Társaság kiad egy havi lapot The Voice of Truth címen. Ez a lap meglepő nyíltsággal és bátorsággal leírja a romániai baptisták küzdelmeit és a román gazdasági élet bajait. Ezeknek a nehézségeknek az Erdélyben élő magyar testvéreink a szenvedő részesei. Közlünk néhány adatot és mondatot az említett lap 1983 november-decemberi számából. “A mi karácsonyunk és az övék” című cikk összehasonlítja a szabadföldön élő és a Romániában élők “ünneplését”. “Képzeljétek el, Romániában vagytok karácsonykor — írja a lap —, hogyan ünnepelhetnétek. Az átlag kereset havi 150. — dollár, de egy font (félkiló) hús 4.00, egy tojás 70 centbe, egy font cukor 80 centbe, egy font liszt 50 centbe kerül. Ha ajándékot akarsz venni, akkor egy pár cipőért 30, egy öltözet Ne dicsekedjél a holnapi nappal, mert nem tudod, mit hoz a nap tereád. Példabeszédek 27:1. It is at this time, that we host the various committees of our Union and when important decisions and plans are made for the future of both our Union and our Home. This year, both the Finance Committee and the Missions committee met for their annual deliberations here at our Home. Our church too played host to those who attended. It was a real joy for us to be able to meet with them and to participate in their planning and decision making. A bukaresti 650 tagú Mihai Bravu gyülekezet imaházát városrendezés miatt lebontották. A gyülekezet kapott helyette egy 4 szobából álló házat, de a közfalak lebontását a hatóság nem engedélyezi. Rosita városban a baptista imaház szűknek bizonyult. Az imaház végén a házhoz csatoltan volt egy fészerszerű toldalék. A gyülekezet tagjai lebontották a fészer és az imaház közti falat, hogy így néhány négyzetméterrel bővítsék az épületet. Mivel ezt a műveletet engedély nélkül végezték, a helyi hatóság egy “buldózerrel” lerombolta a fészert. Egy amerikai lelkész, W. Ralph Mann, a texasi Dentonból, aki négyszer járt Romániában írja a lapban a legutóbbi (1983-as) útja tapasztalatait. “A helyzet sohasem volt olyan kétségbeejtő, mint most. A határnál várni kell 1—3 órát. Ide-oda parancsolgatják az utasokat. Egy Kelet- Németországból jövő fiatalember így szólt bizalmasan: ‘Milyen szegény ország ezl Európai Indiára emlékeztet. ’ Az ország helyzetét egy lelkipásztor így írta le: Romániában senki sem hisz többé a kommunizmusban. A nép keres, kutat valami után, ami az élete ürességét megtölti s ezért az okkultizmus, a mágia és a boszorkányosság felé fordul. ” Bethesda the work of the Lord. We thank God for each of them. Since the Missions Committee will report to you on their own projected plans, I will not write about their plans at this time. Our Home and Finance Committee however, made some rather significant decisions which I should mention at this time. Besides approving some rather heavy expenditures for capital items, the Board, after much prayer, thought and discussion, approved the addition of a fourteen unit Efficiency Apartment building to our present complex. When such a large project is contemplated, we all have questions on the merits of adding at this time or if it would be wiser to wait for lower prices. We all felt that construction costs will not be smaller in the foreseeable future and therefore we all felt that now is as good a time as any to fulfill the demands for this type of housing. Five years ago, the price of these units was one hundred thousand dollars less than the cost is today. I’m sure that five years from now, the cost will be $100 000 more than it is today. You will recall that our Convention approved this project last July if the Board felt that it was feasible for us to absorb the cost. After much study and discussion, the Board approved the plans and we are therefore now in the process of obtaining acceptable financing. It is expected that construction will begin within the next few months. Won’t you please pray for us as we go into such a large undertaking? We cannot do it alone, your prayers and support mean much to us. The Convention Executive Committee also approved our request to ask each and everyone of our friends and constituents to help us with this project by participating in the financing of this project. We have already been asked by a number of individuals if we will be accepting pledges. Your help will naturally be appreciated. If you can’t help financially, we will understand. I am sure however, that if you can’t help financially, that you can pray for us and this I know will be of great help to us. Please let us hear from you. During January, we were happy to
