1983. december 15. 7. oldal November at Bethesda Summer here at Bethesda is over and we are finally enjoying the co­oler months of fall and winter. Our temperatures have dropped from the nineties down to the sixties and seventies. To many of us, this is a welcome change. This is the time of year that we gain a bit of respite from our normally high electric bills associated with the summer months. Our days are still very pleasant and our residents are still able to sit out­side and enjoy the warm sun during each afternoon. Our residents are as well as can be expected. We do however have a few who are in need of your prayers. This however is normal for people who are in their seventies, eighties and nineties. God has been good to us however in allowing us to be the recipients of His blessings for so long a period of time. On so many faces, we can see the happy sign of absolute contentment that can come only through knowing that God is ever present in their daily journey through life. Their contentment gives those of us who work with these ageing loved ones a like feeling of joy for the blessings that we see all around us on a daily basis. Our rooms are full most of the time and we are able to pay all of our expenses on time. This too indicates that God is taking care of us, for which we say “Thank you Lord”. Your Home now is being operated in a somewhat different manner than ever before. Since October 1, 1983, your Executive Director has been on semi-retirement and I have with the approval of your Board of Directors, delegated much of the responsibilities to three Administra­tive Assistants. They have assumed their new responsibilities seriously and thus far the operation of the Home is progressing quite satisfac­torily. We are proud of our employees and with proper guidance I am sure that Bethesda will retain the reputation which we are noted for. At the present time, we are mak­ing final preparations to receive our winter guests. We already have a number of reservations, but we still have room for a few more. If anyone therefore is interested in spending the winter months with us, please write at your earliest convenience and we will do all we can to satisfy your needs. Having sold our second new house, our building program is somewhat at a standstill — not for long however. It is our plan to build one more house very shortly. If anyone is interested, please write to us and we will make further details available. In the meantime, we are progressing with plans for adding fourteen new two room efficiency apartments to our complex. This is currently in the design stage and will be available for final consideration by your Board of Directors during their next meeting in January 1984. This will be a sizeable undertaking and it will require much thought and prayer. Help us by remember­ing us in your prayers. We seek God’s guidance in all that we do. God bless you all. Boldog Újévet kívá­nunk Bibliát tanulmányozó testvé­reinknek. Leckénk igen alkalmas erre a nap­ra, mert felhívja figyelmünket a megtérés, megtisztulás, és az új élet szükségére és lehetőségére. Ezékiás király idejében az asszíriaiak meg­szállták Samáriát “Azért, mert nem hallgattak az Úrnak, az ő Istenüknek szavára”. (II. Kir. 18:9 — 13.) A ki­rály hívatta Ésaiás prófétát, aki nem a népszerűséget kereste, hanem hir­dette az ítélet és a reménység üzene­tét. I. A BÍRÓ VÁDOLÁSA. 2-4. Isten a Bíró, a törvényszékben ül. A menny és a föld lakosai a tanúk. Júda népe a vádlott. A vád: Nem hallgattak az ő Istenüknek szavára és nem cselekedték azokat. Megrontot­ták az Istennel kötött szövetséget. II. AZ ATYA BÁNATA. 2-4. A képletben Isten nem csupán Bíró, hanem Atya is. “Fiakat neveltem és méltóságra emeltem és ők elpárto­lnak tőlem”. Ennél még az állat is tisztességesebben viselkedik. Azok értékelik gazdájuk gondozását, de Júda nem. Mi, az Újszövetség népe, különbek vagyunk? III. A NÉP ÁLLAPOTA. 5-9. Az asszíriaiak teljes pusztítása jelké­pezi a bűn teljes rombolását. Inkább “hol ostorozzalak”? Nem volt épség sehol az egész testben, és nem is ke­resték a gyógyulást. IV. A FELTÉTELEZETT SZA­BADULÁS. 18 — 20. Isten a kemény Bíró, és egyben a kegyelmes, szerető Atya. Ő mindig kitárt karokkal vár­ja megtért bűnbánó gyermekeit. Fi­gyeljük meg a “ha” szót, mind a há­rom versben. Bármennyire szeret minket a mi mennyei Atyánk, nem bír megmenteni, ha mi engedetle­nek, megtéretlenek maradunk. Jé­zus Krisztus vére elégséges arra, hogy megtisztítson minden bűnünktől és alkalmassá tegyen az örök életre. Ha elfogadjuk, engedelmeskedünk, élünk. Ha elutasítjuk a kegyelmet,
