Feb. 1, we held a surprise birthday celebration for Mr. Dionys Fanchal; sponsored by his sisters and nieces and nephews. It was his 90th birthday! Congratulations Mr. Fanchal, may the Lord bless you with continued good health. In January we began a junior high Biblestudy, which meets every other week. It’s been exciting to see them begin to meet together. We hope that they will be encouraged and strengthened in their faith as a result of their involvement! On March 13-15 our young adults are planning their annual spring retreat. They will have opportunity to hear a guest speaker on topics related to “Knowing God’s will”. We anticipate our young people coming back refreshed and renewed for continued involvement in our church life. On March 21 we will be sponsoring a “women’s day” at our church. This will be a time of fellowship, teaching and encouragement for any and all women in our area. We’re looking forward to a big turn out and for the women to come away with some new insights and closer fellowship with each other. Please continue to pray for us, in all these activities as well as for the moving of God’s Spirit among us. We covet your prayers and keep you in ours as well! -emm* * * FEBRUARY AT BETHESDA Februry 1981 was a rather pleasant month weatherwise as compared to the previous two months. Like the entire country, we too had a harsher than normal winter season. We even had frost on a few evenings which caused some damage to our plants and fruit trees. During the later part of the month however, out weather moderated, the sun shone, the grass began to green up and the beautiful blossoms of spring showed us that new life is about to spring forth. Gods master plan works wonders on the spirit of men everywhere. Our Board of Directors met during the final days of January and much was accomplished. They were much impressed by the looks of the new library and beauty shop area. We praise God for making this possible. A decision was made to hire an additional person to releive the Administrator of some of his more basic responsibilities. Accordingly, a very fine Christian young Baptist lady, Jean Robinson, assumed the position of Activities Director. Thus far, she has been a real help to us. A new house newsletter is now being produced to let our residents know what is happening during each week. In addition, short tours will be made to give our people the opportunity to see some of the area in which they live. Some of our residents seldom if ever go beyond the confines of our own property. Many other activities are in the planning stage and will be implemented as soon as possible. We are grateful for these services, since it releives us of the time consuming responsibility of doing the work ourselves. The Board of Directors also reactivated the long range planning committee to look into our needs for future years. This committee, consisting of Dr. Henry Austin, Gabriel Petre, Jr. and Ernest J. Kish has already made tentative plans for expansion and will present them to the Board for consideration. You probably will be hearing more about these plans at our upcoming Convention in New York City in July 1981. The Board also authorized me to either repair or replace our small sized tractor. After a study, an estimate was given for repairs which was more than the value of the tractor and therefore a new one had to be purchased. We have much lawn to be mowed and good equipment is needed in order to take the best advantage of our working employees. This should last us another ten years without additional problems. It has often been said that Bethesda is a mecca for traveling friends from throughout the country. February was no exception. Many real old time friends stopped in to see us and to have a good home cooked meal with us. The following folks visited during the course of the month: Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Hamula, Las Cruses, New Mexico — Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tatter, Watervliet, Michigan — Esther Tatter, Watervliet, Michigan — Betty Schaffer, North Bay, Ontario, Canada — Mr. and Mrs. Ben Balia, Detroit, Michigan — Mr. and Mrs. Hoviak, Detroit, Michigan — Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fogarty, Stratford, Connecticut — Mr. and Mrs. Charles Farkas, New Brunswick, New York — Mr. Frank Schima, Alsas Lorainne, France — Mr. and Mrs. Frank Showah, Huntington, Connecticut — Andy Stmpf, Colorado Springs, Colorado — Ethel Muncsan, Detroit, Michigan. It is always nice to meet with dear old time friends and renew old acquaintances. During the winter months, our church services are attended by many of our visiting loved ones. For this we praise the Lord. Won’t you make plans to stop to see us whenever you are in our area. I’m sure that you will be pleasantly surprised with what you see and with the people you meet. On Wednesday, February 25, 1981, our Home joined other members of our church to listed to a sacred concert by the well known “Masters Team”. It was a rare treat for all of us and we enjoyed the music and the testimony of this Christian group of performers. We thank God for dedicated Christian people who so willingly give of their time and talents for the enjoyment of our loved ones. Please continue us in your prayers as we also remember all of you in ours. God bless you all. Ernest J. Kish, Administrator * * * CONTRIBUTIONS February, 1981 Rev.
