A Magyar Baptista Misszió 1971-ben tartott 125 éves jubileumá­nak ünnepi szolgálatai. 1973-ban az Európai Baptista Szövetség Zürich­­bentartott konferenciáján való szol­gálata. Ilyen előzmények után került sor eddigi legnagyobb jelentőségű szolgálatukra, amikor a stockholmi 13. Baptista Világkongresszusra kap­tak meghívást. A Világkongresszusra utazó ének­kar számára a rendező bizottság szép körútat szervezett. A 19 napos turné június 27-től július 15-ig tar­tott. Szolgáltak Salzburgban (Auszt­ria), Nyugat-Németország öt városá­ban hét alkalommal, Svédország öt városában és a Világkongresszuson öt alkalommal léptek pódiumra. Ezek közül kettőt a svéd televízió és az Euróvízió is közvetített. Több volt ez az út, mint testvéri találkozó. Június 30-án a bonni Bap­tista Gyülekezet az Emst-Moritz Arndt Gimnázium dísztermében ma­gyar estet rendezett a vendégek tisz­teletére. Az ünnepségen képviseltet­te magát a város főpolgármestere, Magyarország bonni nagykövete, valamint a sajtó emberei. A bonni gyülekezet nevében elhangzó kö­szöntő hangsúlyozta: "Az énekkar üzenetet hozott, a békesség üzene­tét.” Dr. Billy Graham testvérnek kü­lön kívánsága volt, hogy a kongresz­­szus záró estéjén, a nagy szabadtéri evangélizálás alkalmával közvetlenül igehirdetése előtt a magyar kórus énekeljen. Testvéreink nagy átélés­sel énekelték el a: "Jézus csodás ke­gyelme” című éneket. A Magyarországi Baptisták Köz­ponti Énekkara kongresszusi szolgá­lataival nemcsak a közönség tetszé­sét nyerte el, hanem a vendéglátók megállapítása szerint valóban méltó képviselete volt a magyar egyházze­nei kultúrának. Ahogyan egy kiváló vezetőszemélyiség fogalmazta: “Ez az énekkar nagyszerűen képviselte Magyarországot.” Ehhez a nagyszerű szolgálatuk­hoz az Evangéliumi Hírnök olvasó­tábora nevében mi is gratulálunk a budapesti Központi Énekkarnak és karmesterének, Bányai Jenő testvér­"Az alázatosság gyakorlásában lesz a szeretet erénye tökéletessé.” Ágoston nek. Adjon az Ür még sok s szép hasonló szolgálatra alkalmat. Dr. Haraszti Sándor NOVEMBER AT BETHESDA Another month has passed into history, and God continues to bless your Home. The weather in Florida during the month of November was absolutely beautiful. It was warm enough and yet a little cooler than before. In fact, we needed a little heat during our cooler nights. During the month we were sad­dened by the death of one of our fine Christian residents. Mr. John Bene went to be with the Lord on November 11th. His parting remark to me was “I’m going home to be with my Lord (haza megyek Uram­hoz).” Mr. Bene celebrated his 92nd birthday last September, and he was a living witness for his Lord to the very end. He will be missed, but we are comforted by the fact that one day we will meet again. Our tourists have started to ar­rive for the winter months. Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Bodolay (Wadsworth, Ohio) and Mr. and Mrs. Allison Se­bastian (Albany, New York) were our first arrivals. It is always good to see our faithful annual visitors. Soon, every room and even bed will be filled in all of our periphery houses. God has blessed us with many wonderful friends who visit with us each year. We are grateful to God for giving us these wonderful friends. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Peter­son and their two lovely children (Toms River, New Jersey) spent a week or so with us also. Perhaps the most significant event during the month was the celebration of Thanksgiving. Our day started with a Thanksgiving service held in our chapel with Dr. Biro providing the spiritual food for the day. Whereas we are thankful at all times, we were especially thankful for the bounties of God as we sat around our dinner table.. Many of you had contributed items or mo­nies to be used for this occasion, and we thank God for your sustain­ing support. Our loved ones dined royally. We invited many of our area friends to have dinner with us, so that they would not have to spend the holiday alone. We had 74 Vi people around our lavishly set dinner tables. Oh yes, the Vi repre­sented our little granddaughter Jes­­samyn, daughter of Calvin and Nancy Kish (Bridgeport, Conn.). Needles to say, we praised God for the joys of fellowship in which we all took part. In response to our previous re­quests, we received two beautiful oil paintings from friends during the month. We received a beautiful painting of "The Praying Hands” as painted by James Butti (Wadsworth, Ohio). Jim is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Butti and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Butti (Avon, Ohio) and Mr. and Mrs. Nick Bodo­lay. The second painting was a French scene by Irene Szabó, daugh­ter of Mrs. Wagi, one of our long time residents. Both paintings have been hung in a prominent place in our Home. We appreciate these gifts as well as all gifts received by our Home, We thank God for all of you. We were finally able to repair the roadway leading to our Home. This was quite a costly project, but one that had to be done in order to give the approach to our Home a much needed lift. Soon we will be able to plant a number of palm trees along the road which will enhance our entryway even more. We also added a new screened in porch to one of our tourist houses, and we are now in the process of repairing and refurnishing one of our other residence. We are doing the work as time and money permit. Please continue to pray for your Home. We perform a missionary service with our loved ones. Our chapel services are attended each Sunday by 25 to 30 of our residents. God’s word is being spread by both word and deed. In James 5:16 we read “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”. We covet your prayers. Ernest J.
