SZEMÉLYI HÍR NEW ROLE - Arthur G. Stumpf, 77 Canoe Brook Road, Trumbull, has been appointed to the newly created position of Assistant to Director, Corporate Employee Relations of Handy & Harman in New York City. He will assist the Corporate Director in planning and formulating personnel and employee relations policies for the various subsidiaries and divisions of the corporation. Mr. Stumpf has been with Handy & Harman since 1939 and was formerly Mill Superintendent and Personnel Manager at the Fairfield Plant. (Brother Stumpf is a member of the Silliman Memorial Baptist Church, Bridgeport, Conn. His father, Rev. Arpad Stumpf, was the pastor a of the said church sometime ago. His mother, our beloved "Susan Stumpf” is still with us. She is life-time Honorary President of our Woman's Missionary Society. Brother Arthur Stumpf serves as deacon and choir director of his church and as a member of the Finance Committee of our Convention. We wish God’s blessing on Brother Stumpf.) Kedves vendégünk szombat este vetített képekben mutatta be a rádióállomást és a felszerelést. Utána a nőtestvérek által felszolgált ízletes süteményeket fogyasztottuk el és testvéreink ismerkedtek Steiner testvérrel. Vasárnap délelőtt áldásos igehirdetést hallhatott gyülekezetünk népe Steiner testvértől. Alulírott és felesége különösen értékelték Steiner testvér látogatását. Örültek, hogy otthonukban vendégként fogadhatták a Monte Carlo-i látogatót. Major testvérnő személyesen ismerte Steiner testvér szüleit s boldogan emlékezett az ifjúkori együttlétre. E sorok írója pedig évek óta szeretettel kísérte figyelemmel Steiner István szerkesztői munkáját. Most nagyon jól esett József testvérünkkel való találkozás. Az Úr áldását kívánjuk Steiner testvérre és családjára fontos munkája végzésében. Major Mihály AUGUST AT BETHESDA The month of August was a real hot one at your Home. It is at such times that most of our residents would like air conditioning in their rooms. We are happy to have the dining room and lounge air conditioned. Our residents spend most of the day in these rooms, since they are so much more comfortable. Your administrator has been very busy with the assigments given to him at the Annual Convention in New Brunswick, New Jersey. I have begun work on satisfying some legalities involving the Hungarian Baptist Union. This involves a great deal of time and patience. I'll report on the progress as it is made. I am happy to report that our new lift station is being prepared for installation. I have been in contact with the contractor, and they should have it ready for our use in the near future. We have indeed been fortunate in obtaining this unit at a very reasonable cost, and it should more than adequately take care of our raw sewage problems for many years to come. More on this as progress is made. Many of you are aware of the fact that we have a sulphur spring on our property which has been gushing out pure sulphur water since 1918. Over the course of years, we have tried to use it as a wading pool for our residents and tourists. Its existence has been accepted matter of factly, and we have allowed the water to just flow into Turkey Creek. In no other way has the water flow been utilized. This is not being critical, because money is always in short supply to take advantage of such natural resources. We in Florida, however, are greatly concerned with having an adequate water supply. Most of our drinking water comes from deep wells, and concern has been voiced about the added demand that will be needed in the future. We have, therefore, been approached on the possible utilization of our well for public use. It will depend on how much money it will take to purify it and make it potable. At present we do not know what action we will take and what use can really be made of this well, but it is comforting to know that God’s blessings have been upon your Home in the past and according to His promise will continue in the future. Mr. John Kautz, Sr. (New York) has not been well and had to spend about ten days in the hospital. I am happy to report that he is now feeling better and is back home with our family. Others in our Home are as well as can be expected for their age. Mrs. Vadas (Norwalk, Conn.) is doing very well as is Helen Repasy (Hollywood, Fla.). Mr. Bene (Cleveland), Anna Washitza, Ethel Risdorfer, Julia Kerestly, Lena Osworth and Katy Kuhn have their good days and their bad days. We covet your prayers for all of our family. During the month of August we were most happy to have visitors from many places. Among those visiting were the following: Mr. and Mrs. Meyers, Miss Ruth Ban, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Drescher, Mrs. Isabelle Sada, Mr. Gabriel Petre, Mr. and Mrs. John Bene and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Osworth and family. Our invitation for you all to visit your Home is taking hold. Please make plans to visit with us at your earliest convenience. You will always be welcome. It was especially nice to have Mr. and Mrs. Louis Drescher
