Milyen nagy erő és hősiesség van benne. Meggyalázva csúfosan, de a homlokáról mégis fény ömöl: a lemondó áldozatos szeretet fénye. Szebb volt ő mindenkinél. Ilyennek várta a zsoltáros, és ilyen is volt Jézus. Aki szép, azt szeretik, vágyódnak utána. Aki szép, annak sok a híve, barátja. A rútat elkerülik, de a vonzót keresik. Miért van hát oly kevés híve a Legszebbnek? Mert nem ismerik Öt, nem tudják, mennyi a dicső benne. De aki szép, annak sok az irigye is, azt lebecsmérlik, feketítik, hogy ne legyen olyan kedvelt. Senkinek sem volt olyan sok irigye, mint Néki. "Belzebub lakik benne” — így sötétítik, de mindhiába. Jézus nekünk örök jó és örök szép marad. Akarjunk az Ő szépségéből venni mi is, amíg időnk és az 0 kegyelme tart! Betkó János Az ébredés lehetséges — ha akarjuk! Dr. Torrey, az áldott emlékű evangélista, aki több nagy ébredési mozgalomban résztvett, írja a következőket: "Előadhatom néktek, szeretteim a Krisztusban azt a bevált receptet, amelynek alkalmazásával minden gyülekezet vagy egyház a föld bármely részén ébredést idézhet elő a tagjai és látogatói körében. Ez így lehetséges: 1. Néhány komoly, hittel - jes hivő lélek jusson közelebb Isten trónjához könyörgéseivel. Ez igen lényeges feltétel! Ha ez nem történik meg, akkor semmiféle eredményre nincs kilátás. 2. A következő pont az, hogy a hivő lelkek egyesüljenek buzgó imában mindaddig, míg az Úr meg nem nyitja a mennyek kapuit és áldását nem tölti ki rájuk. 3. A harmadik feltétel az, hogy a hivő és könyörgő lelkek adják át magukat az Úr szolgálatára, hogy fel tudja őket használni ott és arra a munkára, amire Ő jónak látja, illetve a lelkek megmentésére. Ez az egész! Ezt a használati utasítást nagyon sok országban és a legkülönbözőbb gyülekezetekben igénybevettem és ahol komolyan betartották és hűségesen eljártak benne, ott az eredmény sem maradt el. Ha szelíd és alázatos lélekkel teljesítjük ezt, utána magasztalhatjuk Isten végtelen kegyelmét az áldások özönéért.” The langauge may be different, the young women’s dress another style, the celebration customs varied but in countries throughout the world the prayer is the same: "God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us” (Psalm 67:1). This is the prayer of all young people who enter marriage as committed Chistians. It was the prayer of a young couple whose marriage I witnessed recently in the Moscow Baptist Church. At the end of an afternoon worship service (from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.) they took their vows and were united in matrimony. The service was simple and moving. After the last hym, the bride and groom came from a little room behind the pulpit and stood at the front of the church, facing the congregation. Michael Zhidkov, pastor of the church, greeted them and gave a short sermon on the significance of Christian marriage. In the presence of hundreds he spoke to the couple as though they were alone, seeming to be almost whispering to them in secret. And what was rather fitting, indicating that marriage is a divine mystery that Christians find illuminated in Christ’s love for all. After the pastor’s words of admonishment, the choir broke forth with joy in a beautiful anthem. Then the bride and groom knelt and prayed sponteneously, each with much fervor and clarity. After the prayers the pastor united them in marriage, using vows similar to those used in other Christian churches. After the exchange of rings (it was no secret now!) the entire congregation sang a hymn of thanksgiving and joy. It is difficult to explain in words the feeling of joy that engulfed the whole congregation. Many persons had come with bouquets of flowers and the aisles were filled with people inching their way forward to get into the reception line. The bouquets and flowers piled up. It was a happy day for this young couple, and also for the congregation! The joy of Christian marriage was increased by the fact that the groom was converted and baptized in the Moscow church only last year. The Baptists of the Soviet Union use all occasions as opportunities for evangelism. Who knows? The next wedding in the Moscow church may be that of non-believing friends who attended the wedding of this young couple! The prayer from Psalm 67 concludes: "Let the people praise thee, 0 God; let all the people praise thee.” (EBPS). 'SÄESStaSSÄSEÄSÄSSiiÄitaSEÄSÄiiÄSSÄiSSS Az emberek vissza fognak térni a bibliához. Miért? Mert nem lehetnek meg nélküle.
