Pál és Barnabás apostolokkal az első misszió utazással kísérőként uta­zott, majd pedig Péter apostolhoz csatlakozott. Márk nem tartozott az apostolok közé, hanem csak azt írta meg Evangéliumában, amit Péter apostoltól hallott és tanult. E könyv írásának ideje bizony­talan, de általános vélemény sze­rint Kr. u. 60 és 70 között íródott. Márk az ő evangéliumát főleg a pogányokból lett keresztyének­nek szánta, de a Szentlélek minden e világra született embernek. Márk Evangéliumának törté­nelmi háttere. Abban az időben szükségessé vált, hogy az Ur Jé­zus Krisztus személyére és mun­kájára vonatkozó tanítások a Krisztusban hívők számára meg­­örökíttessenek. Az Evangéliumnak az alaptár­gya az Ur Jézus életének és mun­kájának azon része, mely az Urat a Megváltás országában buzgólko­­dó hatalmas munkást és Megvál­tót tünteti fel, mely országon az Atya Isten neki hatalmat adott. E könyv szerint is Jézus Krisz­tus tettei és cselekedetei is bizo­nyítják, hogy ő az Istennek Fia. E könyv főcélja kimutatni azt, hogy az Ur Jézus Krisztus csodá­latos módon, az emberiség meg­váltása céljából jött e világra. A könyvből látjuk, hogy az Ur Jézus nemcsak a zsidókért, hanem nem­zeti, faji és állapotra való tekin­tet nélkül minden emberért áldoz­ta fel életét. Ez a könyv az Isten Fiának csodálatos tetteit van hi­vatva feltüntetni azért, hogy az emberek higyjenek a Krisztusban. E könyv három főrészre oszlik: I. Az Ur Jézus cselekedetei Ga­­lileában: 1—9. rész. II. Tevékenysége Pereában és Jeruzsálemben: 10—13. rész. III. Az Ur Jézus megfeszítése és feltámadása: 14—16. rész. Ennek az Evangéliumnak szoros viszonya van a többi újtestamen­­tomi könyvekhez. Mátét termé­szetszerűleg követi, amennyiben az Isten Fiát a megváltás munkájá­ban buzgónak és hűségesnek tün­teti fel, holott Máté evangélista Jézus Krisztusról, mint a meg­ígért Messiásról emlékezik meg. Máté evangéliumában Jézus Kr. Király, Márk evangéliumában Megváltó, Lukács evangéliumában gyógyító • orvos és János evangé­liumában az életet adó Isten. Gondolkodva és imádkozva ol­vassuk át ezt a könyvet újonnan, az itt leírt fontos gondolatok és adatok mellett s meglátjuk, hogy milyen sok áldás rejlik ebben az Evangéliumban. How do you do! To make an introduction through an article such as this is a difficult task. There are many things the written word cannot convey, however, it is my hope that through relating some of my background, interests, and ambitions, we can become better acquainted. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mary Ellen Nemeth, and I have lived in Cleveland, Ohio all of my life. I now reside in the suburb of Shaker Heights in an apartment with my mother, my father, my grandmother, Mrs. Megyesi, and my thirteen-year-old sister, Diane. My family and I attend the Shaker Square Hungarian Baptist Church where my grandmother has been a member for forty years. My father is the Superintendent of the Sunday School and a former deacon and trustee. I too have found satisfaction in service through the choir, the Sunday School, and as president of the Youth Cabinet. To me the church is more than a source of religious instruction and Christian fellowship; here I met a very precious friend in Jesus Christ my Lord. I am presently a senior at Shaker Heights High School where I am pur­suing a college preparatory course of study. French, Advanced Placement English, chemistry, and American gov­ernment are some of the courses which I have elected. Extra-curricular activi­ties occupy a great deal of my spare time. Some of these include; Student Life editor of the year book, president of the Girls’ Leaders’ Club, member of Social Council, and Junior YWCA. I enjoy sports very much — especially swimming, tennis, and horseback rid­ing. I also play the piano, enjoy read­ing, and collect foreign dolls and stamps. Often our family has taken trips to various parts of the country during the summer, and travel is very appealing to me. But during the past two summers I have been earning toward college through retail selling and clerical work. Although I am not certain which school 1 will attend, I would like to become a school teacher. Now I wish to express the hope that I can serve you well as Young People’s president, and more important that I can serve Christ well. Thank you for your trust and confidence, and I will carry out my responsibilities to the best of my ability with the Lord’s help. YOUTH RALLY IN OHIO Reported by James Orbán The Hungarian Baptist Young People held their Rally on Oct. 29, 1961 at the Chestnut Street Baptist Church in Wadsworth, Ohio. Upon completion of the Deacons-Ministers meeting, the La­dies Aid served a delicious luncheon. The evening program started with a song service led by the president, James Orbán, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Mize, who is the wife of Rev. Thomas Mize, the pastor of the Wads­worth Church. The Theme for the eve­ning was; “A Workman that is not Ashamed.” II; Timothy 2:14-16. Laboriously lugging a huge book across the front part of the sanctuary, brother Orbán seemed surprised to find that the huge book had no contents, not even one page. What good is a big beau­tiful book without some knowledge in it? Some Christians are like the big book. They look nice on the outside, but ineffective in their witnessing, because they lack knowledge from the Holy Scriptures. After showing a number of books and literature, the congregation was favored with the gospel song: “I got a Mansion just over the Hilltop,” sung by Paul Vigyikan, who also played his guitar. Following Paul, was a beau­tiful gospel song “Open up your Heart and let the Sun shine in” by Mrs. Ger­aldine White from Wadsworth. She also did a fine job in playing her accordion. After more details about books, litera­ture and the Bible, we were treated by a vocal duet by Rev. and Mrs. Csato from Cleveland, 0. West Side Baptist Church. This testimony in song, touched many hearts. Following the duet, we listened to the beautiful Gospel hymn “How Great Thou Art,” sung by the Gospel Bells from Campbell, Ohio. The singers were: Mrs. Vass, Mrs. Szabó and Mrs. Major, accompanied on the piano by Eleanor Wass. also from Campbell, Ohio. Paul Vigyikan favored us with another soul-stirring melody: “I Won­der as I Wonder.” The final blessing of the evening came to us when Rev. Allen White, director of Akron’s Youth for Christ organiza­tion spoke on the topic: “Who did you bring to Church?” “Who are you going to bring to Church and who are you going to bring to Christ?” he asked the congregation. Many Christians expect other people to bring someone, although the neighbor may know nothing or very little about Christ or God’s plan for salvation. Tears came into the eyes of the con­gregation when we realized we have not been doing a good job with the teen­agers of our communities. Rev. White
