1960. február 15-EVANGÉLIUMI HÍRNÖK 5-IK OLDAL Regnum Marianum — Mária országa November 20-ika nevezetes nap volt az Egyesült Államok történetében. Nemcsak azért, mert aznap szentelték fel Washingtonban a római katholikus egyháznak országunkban legnagyobb templomát, hanem azért is, mert ezen a napon ajánlották fel megint hivatalosan, az Egyesült Államokat Mária Országának. Sok magyar élhet közöttünk A- merikában, aki azt hitte, hogy Magyarország igazán a “Mária országa“ Annyiszor emlegették ezt előtte, hogy el kellett, hogy higyje. Csak azt nem tudta, hogy Róma ugyanezt hirdeti minden országban. És azt meg bizonyosan nem gondolta, hogy még az Egyesült Államok is a Mária országa lesz valamikor. Pedig már régen hirdették ezt róla Róma papjai. Most aztán megint hivatalos és nyilvános proklamációt csináltak belőle. Az ország minden városában ugyanazon a napon benne volt a szertartásban; sőt kint is az utcán a templomok előtt a nyilvánosság számára: “U.S.A. DEDICATION TO MARY, Nov. 20“. Tizenhatezer római katholikus templomban ismételték ugyanazt a formulát, amit az uj 18 millió dolláros szék esegyházban mondtak teljes ünnepélyességgel: ‘0- datesszük az Egyesült Államokat a Szeplőtelen Mária kezeibe“. Az uj templomról azt mondják, hogy a világ hetedik legnagyobb temploma. 1914-ben született meg a terve, de tulajdonképpen öt év alatt épült meg a felső része. A templom 459 láb hosszú, 329 láb magas a tornya, tízezer sípos orgona van benne, ami csak maga negyedmillió dollárba került. Maga a templom sincsen még egészen készen; azt mondják, 30 millió dollár lesz a költsége, mire teljesen megépül. A szeplőtelen fogantatásról nevezték el. A felavató bostoni érsek arról beszélt, hogy maga a távolság is a Fehér Ház meg az uj templom között is meg kellene, hogy nyugtassa az aggodalmaskodók lelkét, hogy az a távolság nem lesz kisebb a két épület között. Ámbár a hit hegyeket is megmozgat — tette hozzá Boston érseke, Boston nagy fiára gondolva, aki talán az idén legyőzi e távolságot. Minket azonban igenis aggaszt ez a Máriának odaszentelés. Elvégre ezt az országot pontosan azért alapították, hogy szabadok legyenek Róma zsarnoksága alól. Aminek csak takarója a Mária köpenyege. — És hát a 176 mülió lakos többi részének szótlanul el kell fogadnia ezt a kisajátítást, amit a 34 milliós kisebbség nevében Róma papsága ilyen simán és ellenmondás nélkül elvégez? Nemrégen a Filippini-szigeteken folyt le ugyanez a felszentelési ceremónia- Ott volt az ország elnöke és minden főhivatalnoka. — Washingtonban ez idén még csak Legfőbb Bíróságunk elnöke vett részt a hódítási aktusban. De lehet, hogy jövőre már itt is ott lesz az ország elnöke. .. (Ref. Lapja) Words of Life “Then said Jesus unto the twelve, will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.“ (John 6:67-68). THERE ARE those who scoff at the church disbelieve the Bible and make fun of religion. What do these materialists offer to replace faith in God? Can they comfort the sorrowing, mend a broken heart, give one the faith to begin again, raise the drunkard from the gutter, revive the fainting soul, restore peace to the discordant household or gladness to the hearts of those who have lost hope? We have heard the “unsearchable riches of Christ“ preached with gladness and power by a man who was a professional gambler six years ago. Such changes are not wrought by the doubting materialists- We have seen those from whom the devils of alcoholism had been cast out, . .sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind...“ (Luke 8:35). We have seen doubt and despair give place to faith and rejoicing, slothfulness replaced by diligence, and aimless drifters become successful men of purpose and character. Such migh ty works are not done by disbelievers. Nothing but faith in God can restore the soul and send songs of joy and hope into the night of suffering, sorrow and doubt. Who else can raise the spirit of man in troublous times, until it can burst forth in the paean of praise. “Oh clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.“ (Ps. 47:1)- Where would one go to find the faith and inspiration Isaiah expressed in one of the darkest periods of history, if not to God: “For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing and all the trees in the fields shall clap their hands.“ “Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the Lord for a name for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.“ (Isa. 55:12-13) Can the doubting skeptic heal a sin sick soul? Can any but Christ say “...thy sins are forgiven“? (Luke 7:48), or has anyone else the power to promise as Jesus did to the thief on the cross, “Today shall thou be with me in paradise“? (Luke 23:43). What has the scoffer to offer to soul who has lost his way in doubt and despair? What can the disbeliever say to a world in trouble, threatened with extinction by thermoneuclear bombs? Look around you my friend, examine the best materialistic skeptics what have the to offer and compare it with what those who have believed in God have done for the progress of man. Make your choice on the basis of the record. You will find no inspiration in the camp of the disbelievers. No uplift and little of beauty and glory have come from them.
