Civil katalógus - Catalogue of the Civil Organisations in the Ister-Granum Euroregion (Esztergom-Štúrovo, 2004)
A few technical notes on the compilation of the catalogue Although our catalogue was published as a full database of the civil organisations of the entire Ister-Granum Euroregion, it does not list all the associations and foundations registered in the region. On the one hand, we do not have data from all settlements regarding organisations operating there and, on the other, not all organisations returned their data sheets. Moreover, there are likely to be numerous active organisations which are not yet registered and are known only to a limited circle. Discrepancies in format between the introductory sections of organisations can be attributed to their incomplete data disclosure and to the fact that non-registered organisations obviously do not have tax numbers, etc. In the course of editing, we endeavoured to compile the publication as accurately as possible. We consulted the representatives of several organisations by telephone in order to double check data. Information returned on forms was cleared of mistakes that would have hindered or mislead the reader. In line with its objective, the catalogue is not merely a list of organisations. In order to facilitate contact between organisations with similar interests, an index based on areas of activity and locations is included at the end of the catalogue. It is important to note that organisations which carry out a range of activities are included in the index based on their three most important activities, according to their description. Telephone numbers and addresses are written in accordance with the language of the publication. In spite of our best efforts, a number of deficiencies and mistakes may have slipped through uncorrected. Overall, however, we believe that we have managed to meet our ultimate objective, namely to establish a basis for regional civil cooperation. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the Embassies of the Netherlands in Bratislava and Budapest for the generous support they provided for our work in creating the Euroregion. We wish similar success to all non-profit organisations operating in the Ister-Granum Euroregion. The Editors 6
