Tanulmányok Prokopp Mária 70. születésnapjára of the research of the history of humanism in Hungary in the second half of the 15th century. The author distinguishes three main periods of the research: 1. the works of József Huszti (1887-1954) and Tibor Kardos (1908-1973); 2. the wide-ranging oeuvre of Tibor Klaniczay (1923-1992); 3. research following Klan- iczay’s scientific heritage. The paper presents the problems and the tendencies of the research of humanism in Hungary. Before Klaniczay’s activity, such problems were the periodization, the regional point of view, the absence of the publication of Hungarian results in foreign languages, and the construction of abstract histories of ideas instead of formation of scientific workshops. Klaniczay’s researches tended toward interdisciplinarity, included international comparisons, and mapped the relations between Central and Western European universities. The author also presents the latest results of the research of the scholar generations after Klaniczay: critical editions and studies of the works of Janus Pannonius, investigation of archbishop János Vitéz and his international relations, continuation of the research on Bonfini, and the edition of the most important texts of the Hungarian humanist tradition. 405
