Tanulmányok Prokopp Mária yo. születésnapjára a középsőn ötszirmú rozetta, az északin egy forgó kutya látható. A növényi akantuszleveles, ill. kúszóleveles pillérfejezeteket is figyelemreméltók — több van belőlük, mindegyik más, semmi dísz sem ismétlődik. A gazdag restaurátori dokumentáció hozzáférhető a Kassai Műemléki Hivatal — Krajsky pamiatkovy úrad Kosice tervtárában, s talán ez a rövid helyreállítási beszámoló felér egy kihívással további kutatásra — vagy tekintsék az érdeklődő kollégák meghívónak Kassára. The Restoration of St. Michael’s Chapel in Kosice The introduction of the article is based on formerly published information on the origin and architectural history of St. Michael’s Chapel in Kosice (Slovakia), built probably as a cemetery chapel in the middle of the 14th century, enlarged with a northern aisle at the end of the 15* century, and restored in 1903-4. The article informs about the results of the heritage research and the preparation and execution of the restoration from 1993 to 2006. The restoration work focused on the regeneration of the authentic interior from the 14th century, the grey, red, white, green and blue architectural (geometrical, floral and figurative representations of architectural elements as window and door frames, buttresses, vaulting ribs, keystones, consoles and capitels) and a figurative wall painting of St. Michael the Archangel and the healing Saints, Cos- mas and Damian. The restorers did not find any remains of the medieval painted decoration of the exterior under the unproper cement-plasters from 1904, which should be removed because of the increasing moisture in the walls and replaced by lime-plasters following the shapes of the carved stones of the buttresses and other stone elements of the elevations. The short report calls for an artistic-historic analysis based on the experience of the restoration and invites to visit the chapel in Kosice. 105
