honourable and excellent Lady Kuklender, Benigna Maria Truchlin, on May isc, 1710. The Statue was moved from its original place in 1823, during the construction of the Basilica, and was taken into a park which was where now stands the building of the Bibliotheca. On the occasion of the construction of the above mentioned Bibliotheca, the statue was moved again, this rime it was placed beside the Serpentin that leads up to the Palace Hill. Finally, in 1971, during the organisation of the Palace Hill, the statue was taken to its present place. 2. The Coronation Of Mary. The scatue, made of sandstone, can be found in the churchyard of the suburb church. It stands on a quadratic prism which is divided several times. Above this pedestal there is a part with the shape of a turban, which is followed by another part, narrowing upwards, with a wavy form. On this sits the Father, together with the Son, crowning Mary who kneels before them. Above the group we can see the dove of the Holy Spirit, made of metal. The circumstances of the erection of the statue are known partly from the inscriptions on the sides of the pedestal, partly from files found in the archives. The inscription on the front-side says: »Erected in the years 1718-1714. Restored from the donations of the people in 1912.- The left-Side inscription: »A chapel used to stand at the place where the bodies of Andrew Malonyai and other Hungarian and German heroes massacred by the Turkish lie.« On the right side: .»The chapel collapsed in course of times, and now this memorial erected in honour of the Trinity shall announce the pietv of Paul Malonyai towards his father and all the Hungarian nobles and German soldiers.« On the backside: »Restored from the donations of the Faithfull, 1989.« The Statue used to stand on the Watchman's Hill, close to the main road to Dorog. It must have been moved to its present place when the rail tracks were led. 3. The Madonna of Plague. It is one of the so-called Immaculata-statues (immaculata means »without sin«). It can be found in the »Víziváros« (the name could be translated maybe as »Banktown« or »Watertown« for this part of Esztergom lies on the bank of the Danube), and you can also find a picture of it on the cover. This is a monumental mulcifigured group of statues, maybe the most interesting one in Eszetrgom. Horisontallv it was built in three levels, with a fundament divided according to the Baroque style. We can see a Latin votive inscription on the pedestal. There is also a cave in which Saint Rose lies with a cross in her hands. On the left, we find the figure of Saint Charles of Borrome, on the right, the one of Saint Anthony's 132 of Padova. From the top, the column starts, richly ornamented with puttos
