The chosen company
The trust closed down, and its member-companies took on full financial independence from 1 July 1980. From this date the Eger Tobacco Factory formed the necessary basis for its continued development and the guaranteeing of financial interest, although naturally dependent on the prevailing company results. The leash was loosened, but the system of central purchasing and distribution which tied tobacco factory companies together remained in place. The role of the Trust’s Board of Directors was taken over by the Board of Directors of the Tobacco Sales and Services Joint Venture. The directors split up the market, and decided on the allocation of import quotas. The closure of the trust appeared most advantageous in terms of freedom of investments. In the past ten years the Eger factory hadn’t received a penny from the trust for such purposes, and what’s more its financial resources were even depleted by the trust.
