III. Tanulmányok a Természettudományok köréböl - Járosi András: Számok n-edik gyökének fogalmáról
The author points out the older and the newer contradictions. In order to eliminate all these contradictions of the extraction of root the paper introduces two concepts. By the integral n-th root of „a" he means the mass 0/ all (different (n) by pairs) numbers of which the power is equally „a". It is indicated by]«. The (n) elements of the mass | a will be referred to as the n-th roots of „a" and no special symbol will be used for this purpose. The n-th root of „a", which is positive and of which the sign is identical with that of the number „a" will be called the main n root of „a" by the author. For this he uses the symbol ] a . Finally the paper points out that the above identities valid for the main roots are valid also for the integral n-th roots [on condition that (m, n) = 1 in the third identity]. Introducing both new concepts of root concurrently it becomes possible to eliminate the contradictions of the extraction of root. 286-
