SOME PHILOSOPHICAL PROBLEMS OF CYBERNETICS MRS ALADÁRNÉ SZILÁK In the interaction predominating objectively between philosophy and cybernetics contradictions appear in a quite natural way. Such contradictions are the philosophical problems of cybernetics, which occur between the new results of cybernetics and the general principals of philosophy. Several problems emerge from which this paper touches upon only a few ones. They are as follows : — What is the subject of cybernetics ? — What influence have computers representing the technical side of cybernetics upon the life of the individual and society? — What is its relation like to calculators as universal intermediate system? — Can computers think? Are the general principles of cybernetics to be spread to social life ? — What social effects have computers ? To raise above mentioned problems is correct, because they decide the further direction of research of cybernetics which, in the spirit of the most progressive ideology, gives the definition of its own methodological viewpoint, and so it circumsribes its own authority on this basis. 85
