Ezzel nemcsak hagyományos kultúrájukat örökíük át, de közösséget teremtenek, alkotnak és szórakoznak, boldogabbá téve környezetüket is. Ez a világtalálkozó a legfontosabb, a legnagyobb megnyüvánulása a céljainknak, a tevékenységünknek - összegzi szervezete elképzeléseit Kari Bergholm, a CIOFF (Nemzetközi Néptáncfesztivált Szervezők Világszövetsége) finn elnöke. Hozzátéve azt is, a fesztivál folyamatosan és rohamléptekben bővül. Jelzik ezt a számok is: ezt a fiatal szervezetet 34 éve nyolc európai ország alapította, napjainkban viszont már 88 tagja van. Kérdésünkre, hogy nem kell-e attól tartani, miként az olimpiára, hamarosan a Folkloria- dára is csak selejtezők útján lehet majd bekerülni, a CIOFF elnöke úgy válaszolt, hogy tárt karokkal fogadnak minden jelentkezőt, mindemellett sokkal gyorsabb a szervezet fejlődése, mint amit az olimpiai mozgalom első harminc éve mutatott. A szervezet célja kezdettől azonos, összegyűjteni a világ népeit a barátság és a béke jegyében, hogy a nemzeti zenei és tánckultúrákat bemutatva ismerkedjenek egymással A magyar, a pécsi szervezésről Kari Bergholm kifejtette, két elgondolkodtató új vonást lát, melyeket sikeres és hosszú távon alkalmazandó elemeknek tart. Azzal, hogy egy nagy történelmi hagyományokkal rendelkező, de kisméretű városba, vagyis Pécsre hozták a találkozót, igen családias hangulatot és fantasztikus légkört sikerült teremteni. Legalább ilyen fontos és példaértékű lépés az is, hogy ez a fesztivál kifejezetten a hagyományos népi kultúrát helyezi előtérbe. Tudott dolog, hogy sajnos nagyon sok magát népitánc- csoportnak nevező társaság nem a tradicionális táncokat, hanem színpadi show-kat mutat be. A CIOFF vezetője igen nagyra értékelte azt a magyar kezdeményezést, hogy ez a Folkloriada nem dőlt be a revü igézetének, kiemelten a hagyományos táncoknak ad teret. Preserving Cultural Heritage in a Cozy, Familiar Atmosphere For a brief period of time Folkloriada has managed to bring together from all corners of the world all those who work toward preserving their own traditions, folk dances and folk music. Through their efforts, they not only ensure the survival of their cultural heritage but also facilitate the formation of communities, provide an outlet for creative expression, provide entertainment and beautify their environment. ’The World Folkloriada Festival is the culmination and indeed the greatest manifestation of the aims and endeavors of our organization,’ notes Kari Bergholm, the Finnish President of CIOFF (Conseil International des Organisations de Festivals de Folklore et d’Arts Traditionnels). He also adds that the festival is expanding and growing continuously. This young organization, founded by 8 European countries 34 years ago has grown to a global membership of 88 countries. When asked whether he is concerned that due to the sheer numbers, participation in Folkloriada would soon require a selection process of ’qualifying rounds’ similar to that of the Olympic Games, President Bergholm responded that, ’we await any and all new members with open arms. Furthermore, the development of CIOFF is actually more dynamic than that of the Olympic movement in its initial 30 years. Gathering together the peoples of the world in the spirit of peace and friendship so that they may establish and strengthen international ties by sharing their national music and dance culture with each other was and still remains the objective of the organization.” » Regarding the principles guiding organizers of Folldoriada in Hungary, Kari Bergholm noted two new and impressive elements worth considering for future festivals. ”By bringing the festival to Pécs, an historic yet relatively small town, the Festival took on a cozy and familiar atmosphere. The other new and equally valuable direction worth incorporating involves the emphasis on authentic folk culture. We have all seen groups who are ’folk dance groups’ only in name, who perform stylized stage productions instead of traditional folk dance. The President of CIOFF was especially impressed by this new Hungarian initiative: that Folkloriada resisted the tendency toward becoming a venue for trendy revuelike shows and has become a forum for traditional folk dance and music. ■ i
