Summary BUILDING AN ARCHIVES' LIBRARY COLLECTION The construction of an archives' library collection is determined by func­tional position of archivál institution in the community which establishes it. Its structure is directly linked with archives tasks on acquisition, preservation, ar­rangement and access to archivál documents. We derive principles for the collec­tion development and its formádon, that is, for the selection of included types of materials and representation of particular scientific or professional areas from its main task to ensure information support in performing archives' essential func­tions. Users community, that consists of archivists and researchers, is primarily interested in contents referring information on records creator on legislative and actual levél, as well as on general context in which creator performed its activi­ties. Besides, archivists are interested in archivál literature for the purpose of professional education and for resolving problems concerning archivál arrange­ment. In this paper we teli how that reflects on the collection developing policy, which problems rise and which factors have influence on the actual position of archivál libraries.
