There are two very important periods in the history of paper making: the beginning of ninetenth century when the process of paper glueing in the mass was introduced, and the middle of ninetenth century when wooden pulp was introduced in the paper making. This resulted with the paper of great deal of acidity. A millions of books and documents were written on such acid paper. We are daily coming face to face with it,s rapid deterioration. Increasing acid pollution of the air intensify that problem too. This article presents modern methods of conservation the materials written on the acid paper by methods of mass deacidification, desolving of this problems in Croatia and influence of acids on unconventional materials.
