Summary THE ROLE OF BUILDING IN PREVENTIVE CONSERVATION OF WRITTEN HERITAGE Well projected, worthy and from good materials built building is a base of pre­ventive conservation of written heritage. References about construction and/or adaptation of archives, library or museum buildings are very extensive. All experts included in this work, in any way, should be familiar with this references and consult it. Thus it is possible to avoid some bad decisions and expensive experimentation at the beginning. This article is conceived like a preamble in a very extensive, important and compound collect problems of construction and/or adaptation of buildings which are required by all institutions in connection with preventive conservation of written heritage. Beside basic type of buildings there is also in short elaborated space orga­nization inside buildings. Storages, as the most important, are the most extensive elaborated.
