The article deals with the prospects of this education and with possibilities higher education can offer to the requirements of archives. Skills can be acquired at work only, but also in this case it is necessary to organise training for all future archivists; it is performed by the Centre for Professional Development at the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia. Special significance for the development of our profession has the postgraduate course, that runs on Faculty of Arts many years already. 117
