M. Rastić - D. Rubčić, Orijentacijska lista registraturne grade... Arh. vjesn., god. 36 (1993) str. 23-58 Summary THE ORIENT ATIONAL LIST OF CURRENT RECORDS FOR COMMUNITY AND CITY AUTHORITIES Making Orientational List of current records for community and city authorities is legally based on the articles 22 and 23, the paragraph 1 of The Archival Material's Protection and Archives Act (NN no. 25/1978). The aim of making of the Orientational List is the protection of an archival material which was created in the work of community and city authorities in the interval between 1958 and 1988. One of the basic prerequisites which is indispensable for a regular weeding and disposal of material whose retention period expired and does not have a serving value is accomplished by making of this List. The total extent of material in a authority registry will be reduced by this procedure. On the other hand, an archival material (beeing also cultural heritage) will be better protected, which is the aim of making the List. The List has the orientational significance, which means that it can not be applied routinely: it requires special approach, depending of particularities of each community, town or city, of professionalism and responsibility of the employees, but as well of material and physical conditions of office practice in some community and city authorities. Appraisal criteria which depend of the level to which the material is preserved, result from the analysis of the importance of the material. That means that the durable keeping is prescribed for part of current records which contain documents significant for history and for other scientific disciplines, for culture and for rights of particular citizens. For the material without such values, retention periods, based on the above criteria, are prescribed in the List. For this purpose archival laws and implementations of laws, archival literature, lists of documentation which were brought to archives as well as expert opinions and experiance in archival practice were also used.
