SUMMARY THE TAKING OVER, CLASSIFICATION AND DESCRIPTION OF ARCHIVES OF THE SOCIALISTIC PERIOD A large quantity of archivistic material from the time of socialistic period and the period of selfmanaging socialism has been preserved, thus the weeding, elimination and classification of the latter is one of the most acute problems of the professional in Croatia in particular, One should bear in mind that the materials from the period of 1945 until 1951 have been preserved only in part, while the materials after the 1951 period are quite numerious. As a rule such documentation enters archive in a quite confused state. Mostly it is all very dislocated and kept in various archives and museums, which make the problems of sorting out, and scientific use even more complicated. Because of the dynamic development of our country in the post-war period, the changes concerning the very makers of such documents and also those under territorial jurisdiction were quite frequent, and this also resulted with such state of those materials ie question. It should be mentioned that until 1957 there were no laws or acts concerning the record management and creation. Because of such reasons the way and means of dealing with such documentation varies from the way one treats documentation dating from before 1945. The most usual way is principle of free provenance and within that is a double systématisation scheme: structural and the cronological on one side and cronological and structural on the other. The structure of such material within the existing archives and the clearing within the structural units is not uniquely solved. So one ought to question the need of seeking out new results that all archives abide to. As the essentialinformative tool for this type of documentation one uses a summary and foor the partially preserved documentation an for those documents of exceptional value one makes an analytical inventory. It is expected that most of the questions stated before will be solved by the Directions for the classification of archives of the social and political organizations, that is still in procedure with the Federal comission. 14
