Although Elemér Lovas’s journal of the archaeological collection records only a short period of the events, it excellently illustrates his professional dedication and capacity. The sarcastic tone of his notes – approaching the end of his life as a monk – reveal that he became disillusioned as for fellow human beings. His last note of disorderly handwriting after his partial recovery from a severe cerebrovascular accident in 1943 is a sad piece of message from a broken and unacknowledged man gradually passing away.
