A pannonhalmi Gyümölcsoltó Boldogasszony... 229 Zita Léhner The Latest Results of the Archaeological Research of the “Lady Day” Parish Church in Pannonhalma Definitely, the stateliest monument of the Pannonhalma Downs inhabited since prehistoric times is the Archabbey and its buildings in Pannonhalma. However, in addition to them, the church of the former settlement called Alsok once belonging to the properties of the Abbey cannot be forgotten either, since its past of many centuries represents a significant worth. Owing to the restoration ordered in 2014, many archaeological activities were completed both within and outside the church. As a research result, different periods of the church’s construction were noticed, and some late burial graves from the period between the 17th and 19 th ceturies were excavated. Unfortunately, the earlier graves (after the 13th century) were demolished during the subsequent reconstructions of the church, thus they were not available for recognition. These instances of disturbance can explain the small amount of available finds of mediaeval origin. The most significant items came to light from late graves and as scattered pieces during the excavations; the majority of these objects as sacral ones can be related to religion.
