A kaposszentjakabi bencés apátság ásatásain (1960–2016)... 197 from abroad and were made all but one in the territory of today’s Austria. The other half of the mints are from the Kingdom of Hungary. There are relatively few coins from the Arpadian times, but we know more items from the Late Middle Ages. The majority of the mints are from the 16th century, from the last decades of the existence of the monastery. Considering the whole assemblage, the highest number of coins have got the mints of Ferdinand I. During the excavation in the year of 2016, 18 coins turned up sticked together (a roll). Among these ones we can find Austrian one-sided pfennig of Ferdinand I, just as mints from Salzburg, one sided ones, as well. Comparing the coins found in the excavations with the assemblage of other excavations (monasteries and churches), we can see that there are mints from the Arpadian times in low number even in the case of ecclesiastical institutions of early foundations. Cash circulation prospered almost everywhere at the end of the Angevin times and there are typical later mints issued by Sigismund, mainly the parvus and quartings of smaller value. The monarchs of the 15 th century are represented regularly with some mints. Mints from the 16th century were found mainly in Somogyvár, Kaposszentjakab and Balatonszemes. Similarly to the assemblage of Kaposszentjakab, a lot of onesided pfennigs were found in the assemblage of Somogyvár. Denarius from Vienna of the 13–14th centuries turn up regularly in every assemblage, similarly to the Bavarian small changes. The mints of the Patriarchate of Aquileia are present in the assemblages of Somogyvár, Balatonszemes and Balatonszárszó, but they are absent in Kaposszentjakab. Typically, there is a low number of contemporary false coins. In general, it can be stated that small coins dominate every assemblage and that the coins of great value (gold ducats, silver coins of higher value) are missing apart from two exceptions. Gold ducats turned up only in Somogyvár and Balatonszemes.
