224 Gyöngyössy Márton: Az elfeledett pénztörténész... Márton Gyöngyössy: A forgotten numismatist: Albin Balogh OSB (1887–1958) In the 1910s, Bálint Hóman (1885–1951), who later became a rightly famous mediae-valist, held a heated historiographic controversy with a numismatist forgotten by now, a Benedictine monk, Albin Balogh (1887–1958). The learned priest and teach-er published two papers: he discussed issues of numismatics related to the age of the Arpads in the first one, and those related to the period of Charles Robert in the second one. The two essays are hardly mentioned in papers today, however, certain conclusions of Albin Balogh have stood the test of time. The present paper provides an analytic introduction to the Benedictine monk’s works of numismatics, his impor-tant conclusions, and the points of view assumed by the parties in the course of the aforementioned controversy.
