12 CALVIN SYNOD HERALD 3ín memóriám Rev. ALBERT W. KOVÁCS 1929-2016 Rév. Albert W. Kovács, 86, of Ligonier, PA died Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Excela Latrobe Hospital. He was bom August 19, 1929 in Woodbridge, NJ, a son of the late Albert and Elizabeth Szabad Kovács. Albert was licensed for Christian Ministry by the Pittsburgh Synod in 1954. He obtained his BS in Divinity and M. in Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary. He served many churches during his career which spanned 62 years, from 1954 to present. In recent years he was the General Secretary of the Calvin Synod for two terms and chairman of the Church and Ministry Committee for six years. He was an active member of the Ligonier Valley Ministerial Association. Rev. Kovács is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 62 years, Theresa Mary Torok Kovács, two sons, John Kovács of Reading and Dr. James (Diana) Kovács of Voorhees, NJ, a daughter, Jean Kovács of White Bear Lake, MN, four granddaughters, Christina and Caroline Kovács, Erin Watson and Holly (Wes) Adams, two great-grandchildren, Esa Huggins-Watson and Hazel Adams, and a sister, Marguerite Gross of Woodbridge, NJ. "My grace is sufficient for thee." A service to celebrate the life of Rev. Kovács was held Saturday, July 9,2016 at 11:00AM at the Chapel of the Bethlen Home, Kalassay Drive, Ligonier. Calvin Synod Conference of the United Church of Christ wishes to express our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Rev. Albert W. Kovács. May our loving God comfort the mourning family members and friends.
