April 22nd was just like a regular Sunday after Easter. However, this day for our members marked a special day. Our beautiful Church which was built in 1961 and was dedicated to the service of God in April of 1962, gave us a special time to remember with a Service of Thanksgiving. The Church was filled with many of the members who were there 50 years ago and new members who now with the merger became part of the congregation, to pause for a moment and give thanks to God for our House of God. In attendance was the former pastor, the Rev. Albert W. Kovács, Pastor Emeritus, who together with our Pastor by the Word of God, lifted up the words of gratitude of our people for providing for us a place to worship, a place to gather and a place to grow true each others' faith. This day also gave us another occasion to celebrate. With the merger and the name change of the congregation by the generousity of the the Elek family a new bulletin board was placed in front of the church, honoring the service and dedication of their loving parents. Following the worship service we gathered in front of the Church to the unveiling of the new bulletin board. After the service festivities all members of the church, including members of the Elek family, gathered in the Fellowship Hall for a joyous Church Brunch to enjoy each others company. It was truly a blessed day. With this event concluded, we came down from the mountain so to speak to return to the regular routine of the church's life. We all enjoyed the special Mother's Day service in which we paid tribute to the mothers in our midst, and lovingly remembered those mothers who have been called home to the Lord. A special presentation was given to all women of adult age by the male members of the Consistory. On the day of Pentecost in accordance with our traditions, we not only celebrated the Gift of the Holy Spirit, but we also joined together around the Lord's Table to re-commit ourselves in His service.
