CALVIN SYNOD HERALD 9 Furthermore, not only is the sequence important, to begin with love, continue it with a joyful and fruitful life, and then achieve peace but equally important is the direction the way the fruits of the spirit germinate, grow, and ripen. While Christmas teaches us love, joy, and peace should originate from within and radiate outward, the world dictates the opposite direction, let peace prevail among people first, after it let them have an easy and carefree life, then - and only then - will they start to love each other. Love does not originate from peace; peace is the consequence of love. In our spiritual life the correct sequence begins in this way: “We love because he (God) first loved us.” 1 John 4:19. Rev. A Special Church Event On the 19th of August, 2012 we witnessed a special church event. The West Side Hungarian Reformed Church in Cleveland attended a joint worship at the First Hungarian Reformed Church for the celebration of the New Bread. The members of both congregations were together at this worship to praise God and partook the New Bread during the Lord's Supper. The sermons were led by Rt. Rev. Géza Erdélyi who represented the Slovakian Christian Reformed Church. The three pastors the Rt. Rev. Géza Erdélyi, the Rt. Rev. Csaba Krasznai and the Rev. Tamas Biro shared the sacraments during the Hungarian and English worship as well. We also welcomed special guests on this church occasion: Edit Lauder, founder of American Hungarian Coalition; László Bojtos, Honorary Consul; Peter Kovalszki, President of The Hungarian Communion of Friends; and the Rev. Csaba Orosz. The Hungarian Scouts of Cleveland also greeted the congregations. After the worship we enjoyed delicious pastries and refreshments. It was a pleasant opportunity for friendly conversations and to recall common memories and stories. We are thankful to the First Hungarian Reformed Church, Cleveland, for inviting us to worship together. We shall keep this historical church event in our hearts and we shall keep our Hungarian Reformers friends in our prayer. Soli Deo Gloria! Rev.
