6 CALVIN SYNOD HERALD Ordination and Installation of Rev. Tibor Király Associate Pastor of Calvin United Church of Christ Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ! With thanksgiving to God, we see signs of renewal and blessings in our Fairfield congregation. We ordained and installed a young dedicated and generous associate pastor, the Rev. Tibor Király, and we baptized our adult sister, Ilona Szabó, on Saturday, March 26, 2011. We are sharing our joy with the members and congregations of Calvin Synod as well as with our friends. Rev. Tibor Király taking his oath We are thankful to God for the large congregation which gathered for this occasion and for the pastors from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut who participated in the Worship Service. We sensed how many members and supporters we have and can have in the future. At the beginning of the Worship Service, Father Louis Pintye, pastor of our neighbor church, The Church of St. Emery, demonstrated Christian fellowship and unity during the reading of the Old Testament passages and in the prayer he offered. We sang praises to God uniting our voices in both English and Hungarian. This was followed by the baptism of our sister, Ilona Szabó. Rev. Király and myself conducted the liturgy of Holy Baptism. Rev. John Olson from United Church of Christ, Bridgeport, CT read the Word of God from the Gospel of John 15:12-17. We enjoyed the beautiful solo presentation and voice of Barbara Gall who sang „Give Thanks.” I preached the Word of God in English about the privilege and responsibility of Christian ministry and the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit which was promised by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Rev. Zsolt Otvos, pastor of the Magyar Reformed Church, New Brunswick, NJ read the Psalm 115:1-3, 10-15 in Hungarian followed by the Scripture reading from The Letter to the Ephisians 4:1-16 by Rev. Csilla Toth who serves in Wharton, NJ. The Rev. Arpad Drotos from the Hungarian Reformed Church, 82nd St., NYC read from the High Priestly Prayer of our Lord Jesus Christ as it is recorded in the Gospel of John 17:3-11. Rev. Anita Fogarasi, supply pastor at the First Hungarian Reformed Church, 69th St., NYC read the 25th Psalm, verses 1-10. I preached the Hungarian sermon based on the text from 1 Timothy 2:4-6 and Ephesians 4:11-12. The sermon was followed by a prayer of thanksgiving offered by the Very Rev. Barnabas Roczey, honorary Dean of the Eastern Classis, HRCA and president of the Eastern Division of the Hungarian American Ministerial Association. The offertory prayers were led by Rev. Drotos in both English and Hungarian. We proceeded with the liturgy of Ordination and Installation of a Minister. Many members and friends expressed their joy and appreciation that they were able to be present and witness two significant events at Calvin United Church of Christ, first at the Ordination and Installation of the Bishop in September, and presently at the Ordination and Installation of the Associate Pastor. An uplifting and inspirational part of the service was the laying on of hands by the pastors as they bestowed blessings with Bible verses upon Rev. Király as a servant of God and their colleague. Mollie and Kira, daughters of Rev. Király, presented their father with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and hugs. I presented the gifts of a new ministerial robe, an English Bible, and prayer book from the Fairfield congregation to Rev. Király. The newly ordained and installed pastor preached a short sermon based on 2 Samuel 7:17-20 and Romans 9:15-16. He interpreted the Bible passage and gave his personal testimony of faith. Rev.
