CALVIN SYNOD HERAKD 5 the Laurelville Mennonite Church Center Mount Pleasant, PA. This year’s camp theme is “The B.I.B.L.E. ~ That’s the Book for Me!” UCC Meeting Reports: Reports were given by Rev. Béla Póznán and Mrs. Marla Slemp concerning their participation in General Synod 27 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Rt. Rev. Joseph Vásárhelyi reported on the Executive Council’s activities, Mr. Lehel Deák reported on his activities on Local Church Ministries. Bishop Ludwig commented on his participation representing Calvin Synod. The Delegates to the meeting voted that “Calvin Synod categorically opposes the United Church of Christ ’s ‘Fall 2008 Proposal on Single Governance. ”’ Bethlen Almanac: Church reports will be needed by the end of October, 2010. Slovak Language Laws: Delegates to the Annual Meeting voted that “Calvin Synod condemns the cruel new minority language law of Slovakia, which criminalizes the use of Hungarian by the ethnic Magyar community that has dwelled in that land over one-thousand years; and we urge its immediate repeal for the restoration of the human rights of this minority of its citizens.” The Annual Banquet was held in the “Heritage Room” of the Bethlen Communities. An excellent Hungarian meal was served, catered by the Darlington Inn, a local Hungarian restaurant. Recognized for their dedicated service to their local congregations were: 1. Mr. István Balia (New York); 2. Mrs. Julia Bero (Bridgeport). Recognized for dedicated service to Calvin Synod were: 1. Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi, as “General Secretary” 2008-2010; 2. Rt. Rev. Joseph Vásárhelyi, as “Auxiliary Bishop” 2005-2010; 3. Rt. Rev. Koloman Karl Ludwig, as “Bishop” 2005-2010. Recognized as “Key Persons” to Calvin Synod during the past six years were: 1. Mr. James D. Balias, Synod Presbyter 2004-2007; 2. Mr. Lehel. F. Deák, Synod Presbyter 2007-2010; 3. Rev. Albert W. Kovács, “Unwavering dedication to Calvin Synod’’. Karen Ludwig, wife of Bishop Ludwig and Maria Vásárhelyi, wife of Auxiliary Bishop Vásárhelyi, were both recognized for their support and dedication to the Synod’s work. Elections: 1. Faithful and Welcoming representative: Rev. Albert W. Kovács. 2. Church and Ministry Committee: Rev. Peter Tóth (partial term, Class of 2011) 3. UCC Justice and Witness Committee: Rev. Dr. Ervin Betts. 4. UCC Office of General Ministries: Mr. A. George Kohl. 5. UCC Office of Local Church Ministries: Rev. Peter Tóth. New Conference Council Officers: 1. Bishop: Rt. Rev. Béla Póznán. 2. Auxiliary Bishop: Rt. Rev. Dr. Csaba Krasznai. 3. Treasurer: Mrs. Lisa S. Tóth-Maskarinec. 4. General Secretary: Rt. Rev. Koloman K. Ludwig. 5. Synod Presbyter: Mr. Lehel Deák. Friday morning devotions were led by the newly elected Bishop, Rt. Rev. Béla Póznán. The Delegates to the Meeting voted to grant “Bishop Emeritus” status to the outgoing Bishop, Rt. Rev. Koloman K.
