10 CALVIN SYNOD HERALD Medical Mission in Beregszász Dear Fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ! Thank you for your continued donations and support of the Medical Mission in Beregszász, in the Transcarpathian Ukraine! During August 2010,1 spent 2 weeks in Beregszász and was able to distribute various medications to the Beregszász hospital, other Missionaries and also local people. Your donations to the Missionary Fund over the past year continues to touch many lives, young and old. Your kindness and generosity has meant that several people with chronic kidney disease have been able to take some highly effective medications for their disease. The purchase of EPOGEN and Cyclophosphamide has resulted in truly significant help for these individuals - in the case of one person, the medication was able to indefinitely postpone kidney dialysis! Your kindnesses have also resulted in the completion of the construction at the Pediatric Clinic. We have gone from an unusable building with holes in the roof and falling down plaster to a functional building where we can better serve and heal the children of Beregszász! Upon my return to the USA, I took an exciting position with Charles River Laboratories-North West in Tacoma, Washington and I also continue to raise funds for the Medical Mission efforts in Beregszász. And while our long term goal for Beregszász is for the purchase of a CT Scanner for use by the Hospital, your assistance also helps provide medications and equipment. Our hope for the Hospital also includes a Portable Ultra Sound for use by doctors when they make house calls to indivuals who are so sick, that they cannot even travel to the Hospital for diagnosis or treatment. So please, if you are able to donate any amount, send your contribution to: First Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh 221 Johnston Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15207 Please note “Medical Mission In Beregszász - Dr. Edwin Elliott Memorial Fund” in the memo of your check. A heartfelt thank you to all who hold this Mission in their hearts and prayers. May God bless you for your prayers, kindness and generosity! Sincerely, Dr. Steven Komjáthy, MD Beregszász Hospital and Staff with Dr. István Komjathyffar right) Beregszász Children ’s Clinic BEFORE Renovation Beregszász Children s Clinic AFTER Renovation
