Rev. Bela Poznan, as the new Bishop of Calvin Synod. For a more detailed article and photographs, please inside. FIRST HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH - New York, NY - Pal Schmitt, the president of the Republic of Hungary took time to visit Hungarian churches in New York City, including ours. He spoke a few encouraging words about the new Hungarian government’s dedication and attention to the cause of all Hungarians. HERITAGE UNITED CHURCH of CHRIST - Davison, MI Rev. Jim James, the Congregation’s Pastor writes us: I am a retired United Methodist Minister serving a Hungarian Reformed Church. As I became more accustomed to my people I saw that the Reformed Tradition is what I had been doing my entire ministerial career. I am impressed with their history and I really have not felt as loved or needed in all my Methodist experience. As I learn more Hungarian phrases the people respond more and more. We are doing well and we have gained some new church members. One is a man who is 68 years old and had never attended church - ANY church - before in his life. He loves church! Every time the door is opened he is there. He mows our grass, is on the board and has learned to make cabbage rolls. Sadly, we had a celebration of life service for one of our “Saints” whose father and mother were among those who founded our church. Thelma “Giz” Kida passed away on June 28, and we had her service on July 11. We have made great strides towards paying off our mortgage and only owe about $25,000 on a $300,000 loan when we built the church 12 years ago. We ask for God’s continued presence in our midst. HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH - Fairport Harbor, OH - Our Sunday School held a Rally Day on September 12 during English Service to start the new Sunday School year. On Saturday September 18 the Women’s Federation held a Chicken Paprikas Dinner. On September 26 we participated in Fairport Harbor Community Days held at the City Park. And on October 9, we celebrated the 100th Anniversary of our Church with a Special Worship followed by a Banquet. We ask for God’s continued blessings on the life of our church! HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH - Lorain, OH On September 12, we held a Rally Day to kick-off the opening of the new Sunday School year. The Sunday School Staff conducted church that day and taught about Noah’s Ark. A Congregational Lunch followed - and also a visit to the Cleveland Zoo to see all of God’s creatures that were present on the Ark! We thank all those who helped Rally Day be the success that it was! On October 24, our Congregation commemorated the 1956 Revolution. And
