6 CALVIN SYNOD HERALD Continued from page 5 infinite capacity to inflict and suffer hurt. Easter comes as a real relief from the uncomfortable physicality of Good Friday. The resurrection can be a pleasant abstraction: we can ring the church bells and surround ourselves with lilies and joyous music as we distance ourselves from His broken body. But the risen Christ did not appear to His followers in dreams or visions: He came among them in the homeliness and everyday-ness of shared walks and meals, in flesh that can be hungry and fed, flesh that can be hurt, even killed - flesh that can embody God’s love. Holy Week and Easter are important times of remembering. May our life together in the community of faith be a living reminder of all that Christ has done for us, and who He is to each of us. May nothing keep any of us from the Lord’s Supper on Easter Day to meet the resurrected Jesus in the blessed sacrament of His body and blood, which was shed for our salvation! Annual Conference of The American Hungarian Reformed Presbyter’s Association will be held at the Bethlen Communities Conference Room in Ligonier, Pennsylvania on Saturday, August 22nd. and Sunday, August 23rd. All members of the Consistory, Presbyter or Church Council, their families and guests are cordially invited to attend. It was voted on at the 2008 meeting to seek another date for the Annual meeting of The Presbyter’s Association. The Ministerial Association also voted to follow the Presbyter’s Association. Upon the recommendations of the Officers the meeting has been moved to August 22nd. and 23rd. which is also a more convenient date for Bethlen Communities. I am looking forward to seeing representatives from all of the various churches at this year’s conference. As the Agenda and the plans are finalized I will keep everyone informed by mail and email.
