4 CALVIN SYNOD HERALD One Hundredth Anniversary Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania By the grace of God, Third Avenue Calvin Reformed Church celebrated 100 years on Saturday, April 19,2008. The church was filled to capacity and our members were standing in the vestibule. I was overwhelmed when I looked out the side door from where I sat and saw our neighbors standing on the lawn, listening to the Worship Service as we sang “Faith of Our Fathers” and “Our God, Our Help in Ages Past.” The worship service was under the leadership of Rev. Imre A. Bertalan, Pastor and Dean of Central Classis. The Rt. Rev. Koloman K. Ludwig, Bishop of Calvin Synod, was the keynote speaker. Other participants were Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi, Rev. Gabor Nitsch, Rev. Alexander Jalso, Rev. Ilona Komjáthy, Rev. Zsolt Otvos - Synod Secretary, Rev. Dr. Daniel Borsay, Rev. Dr. Joseph Posta, Rev. Virgil László, and Rev. Zoltán Kelemen. Mrs. Lisa Toth Maskarinec - Synod Treasurer - was also present. Mrs. Arelen Csornán presented our Sunday School Children. They are always interesting and enthusiastic to respond during children’s moments. The Banquet reception followed at the Berkshire. The Anniversary Committee was Chairman Mr. Endre Csornán, Co-Chair Mrs. Arelen Csornán, Wanda Baim, Nadine Csornán, Wilburn Roby, and Rev. Imre A. Bertalan. It was a blessing to have so many of our sister congregations and friends celebrate this momentus occasion and we give thanks to God as we enter the next One Hundred years in His Service. Third Avenue Church’s New Statement of Purpose The purpose of Third Avenue Calvin Reformed Church is to welcome all to worship God; to receive and share the love of Jesus Christ; and, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, to participate in the advancement of god’s Kingdom, in accordance with the Bible. In Christian love, Wilburn A. Roby, Jr. Chief Elder Rev. Imre Bertalan led the worship service at the 100th anniversay celebration of the Beaver Falls congregation Ministers from our sister churches attended our 100 -Year Anniversary Celebration The Sunday School children participated in the church s festivities, under the leadership of Mrs. Arelen Csornán Rt.
