CALVIN SYNOD HERALD 7 Talpra Magyar! Mohács was lost because Hungary had no allies to fight the Mohammedean hordes. All the others were too busy with their own intrigues and lust for power to see the danger to Europe and Christianity itself. So too went the struggles of Calvin Synod over the years for the holy Word of God as the sole authority for the Lord’s people in the United Church of Christ. Suddenly, there are allies who now see the unholy direction the UCC has been led off into by the radical leadership. Now there are others, following upon the General Synod’s audacious support for same-sex “marriage” - and we may assume other perverse sexual acts - who know that these people do not speak for the members in our pews. Indeed, they serve those who deny the word of the Lord is truly revealed in the Bibles in our pews and our homes. Talpra Magyar! Now is the time the Lord has given, to us in Calvin Synod, a glorious opportunity to stand with new allies God has provided, and to fight against the principalities and powers for our Church’s life. Surely, if this denomination continues in its heresy, the Lord will destroy it! But we must fight for the honor of this Church of the Reformation, and march on in strength like the blessed saints of old - or we are not worthy of our heritage. This time we are not alone! Faithful and Welcoming Churches United under this banner, one body of diverse traditions, we will fight the good fight to reclaim our Church. Every church of Calvin Synod must get into this fray - now is the time. Once to every church and member comes the moment to decide. This is that moment - and to resolve: Resolution: Same-sex Marriage The members of __________Church of __________, affiliated with the Calvin Synod of the United Church of Christ, in conformity with the witness of the Holy Scriptures, reaffirms the Synod’s declaration that the covenant of Marriage is only and ever between one man and one woman; and, We hereby declare that a same-sex union is not a marriage, and that the United Church of Christ meeting of the General Synod was in grave error, misinterpreting the Bible and the revered heritage of the Christian churches throughout the centuries’ this __________ day of__________, in the Year of Our Lord__________. Resolution: Faithful and Welcoming Churches The members of __________ Church of __________, affiliated with the Calvin Synod of the United Church of Christ, in recognition of the fact that this denomination has stayed afar from the faith of our fathers and mothers; in order to reclaim our distinguished heritage for our posterity, and in recognition that this task requires the concerted efforts of many churches, members and ministers; hereby and now declare that we are a constituent member church of the “Faithful and Welcoming Churches, Inc.,” and promise to our colleagues in other churches that we shall stand beside them in our holy quest; this________ _ day of__________, in the Year of Our Lord__________. Talpra Magyar! Rev. Albert W. Kovács - Minister Hungarian Reformed Church Woodbridge, New Jersey TRAC Georgetown: Mission Trip to Romania 2006 Dear TRAC Supporters: Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the King of all nations. Allow us to introduce ourselves. We are the “Georgetown TRAC Committee”: a sub-committee of the larger TRAC organization. We are planning, Lord willing, to take a group of 12 young people to Romania in July 2006. Our team is working hard at raising funds for this project. We need to raise money for the project materials as well as travel expenses. Our plans are to spend several days in Bogota, concentrating on helping the Emmaus House Orphanage with their bakery. This is important, as we hope the bakery will help this orphanage to be more self-supporting and, in addition, will provide valuable skills for the children when they must leave the Ammaus House and find jobs. Then, we will go to Felor Christian School and do some work on that building. Most of you are aware of the great need for this school. Twelve surrounding villages are working together on this school. The saints in the region have expressed that the school is so very important, for without it, they fear the Reformed faith will be lost in their midst. Also, at both locations, we hope to hold a very simple “Bible School” for the children. We are very humbled and excited by this opportunity. We see this project not only as a means to encourage and support saints suffering under hardship, but also as an occasion to strengthen the faith of our young people. We pray this will open their eyes to the needs of others, will cause them to think more globally about God’s Kingdom, and hold more precious the gift of our beloved Reformed faith. Many who went before said the experienced “changed them” in profound ways they cannot even put into words. We know many of you support many other Kingdom causes. For this, we are so very thankful, and we in no way want to take away from these. However, if the Lord has blessed you to be able to give beyond that and if you have a heart for this project, we ask that you write your check to “Georgetown TRAC” and send it to the TRAC Georgetown, 3324 Ottawa Avenue, Grandville, Michigan 49418. In Christ, Bob and Karren DeYoung, Team Leaders Romania ‘06 TRAC Georgetown Transylvania Reformed Assistance Committee (TRAC)
